Christian Voice Magazine recently reported that Naomi Sego told their reporters that she had received a letter from former members Kasey Kemp and Judson Horner stating that they now owned the Sego name and that she would have to quit using the name. CVM also provided documentation of Kemp and Horner jointly registering "the Segos" as an LLC (Limited Liability Company) on April 28, 2008, in the state of North Carolina, with Judson Horner listed as the "initial registrant." Additionally, the web domain, http://www.thesegos.com , was registered on April 15, 2008. Judson Horner is listed as the registrant for the domain.

Today, Vine Records, issued a press release where Naomi is quoted as saying, ""Contrary to recent misrepresentations, Kasey, Judson and I are on good terms. They are like sons to me and have never threatened me. The Sego name and rights are not and have not been in jeopardy. These boys have been an integral part of this group on multiple levels, and we have enjoyed our years on the road and writing this final chapter together. We will be promoting this recording together and doing interviews together. We may even do a few last stands together on select dates. I am grateful for all of these years and excited to be ending the group on a high note with this album. I will continue to travel as long as I can get up and get on the road. It's what I've done for so many years, and ministry is what I love to do."

Christian Voice Magazine had this to say about the above statements, "To say that we've misrepresented anything regarding this matter is completely and utterly false. We have published nothing but the facts. Every interview, every investigation and every phone call regarding this issue has been well documented. We continue to fully stand behind every report we've made."

In addition to reporting the above statement, Vine Records announced the release of the final project from Naomi & the Segos which includes former members Kemp and Horner. The recording, produced by Wayne Haun and Kevin Ward, entitled Happy Ending, will hit shelves nationwide on June 24th, distributed by Crossroads Entertainment and Marketing.

UPDATE:

SGN spoke to Naomi Sego today in regards to a few questions concerning recent events. When asked if Christian Voice Magazine had ever misrepresented anything in their news reports or statements attributed to her, she stated, "No, I was not misrepresented." When asked if she did receive a letter telling her to stop using the Sego name she replied, "One of the boys had left his car at my house, when they came to pick up the car, the letter was left in my back door." She confirmed that there was a time when the use of the name was in question, but upon recent counsel with her son the situation has been resolved and the parties are now working together. Naomi also stated she has no plans to retire and she has not decided the future of the Naomi and The Segos group.

Self Justification, Self Justification and Self Justification!!!

It appears now, everyone has forgotten about defending Naomi and resorting to defending their position. Sad Sad Sad

TonyTheRealTiger's avatar Yes, it is sad, Mr. Klaudt.

What have you done to support Miss Naomi other than to rebuke those commenting?

Are you not just as guilty of self justification by judging the motives and hearts of those commenting?

Yup, just keep defending your position Mr. Tiger. I don't see much professional journalism, only name calling and indictment. What happened to Whiteman's innocence until proven guilty philosophy? I believe Miss Naomi deserves better treatment than just words which disappear like puffs of smoke in the night.

TonyTheRealTiger's avatar Really? And where in the reporting of this story was there name calling? Not by any news report that I have read and not by me in any of my comments. I have called no one names. There has been no un-professional journalism here that I have read. Only statements of facts were reported.

The facts have spoken (the LLC is documented as well as two seperate news organizations have confirmed from Miss Naomi that she was told she could not use the name). The guilty has been proven. The innocent one in this mess is Miss Naomi.

Evidently you have not studied the SGN Update. Why don't you study this. There seems to be a reconciliation happening that words by sideline coaches won't allow to happen or don't want to happen.

Evidently there was a time when the use of the name was in question. Is that not what Miss Naomi said. I thank God that all the parties have waded through this and have resolved this and are now working together. Does not this excite you spiritually Mr. Tiger?

Cliff, they called on you to help? How are you helping them? Just curious.

CliffCerce's avatar JT - I'm not at liberty to say, but any of my involvement was totally above board.

What could appear to those unaware of the facts as contradiction on Naomi's part is due to the nature of her incredibly-forgiving spirit and desire to meet everyone more than halfway - and to be willing to not hold some accountable for their actions - even to her own hurt.

My admiration for Naomi has risen more than 10 fold in the last few days and I, again, ask that fans take their focus off of trying to "figure out" what has actually happened (as they will not be able to), but rather focus their activity in being in prayer for Naomi for strength and guidance at this difficult time.

    I stand amazed!
God's own words reminds us time and time again, beware of gossip. I know that many of you feel that you are not gossiping, but if you were not there first hand when it all started and know the exact tone of someones heart and know exactly words and tone used, how can any of us say "Its fact?".
Folks we have a legend that has had a long and wonderful run, yes there have been trials, yes there have been times when they felt they could not go on because of loss of loved ones and financial problems and yet they kept on going because of their love for the Lord, and the wonderful blessings He gives them every time they are weary and just don't see any way to continue, the Lord allows them to see some one saved at their concert, or someone comes up to them and tells them of the hell they were going through but their music and the words they sang spoke to their heart, in such a way that not only did it help them through that day, but it allowed them to throw off the burdens of the old life and now they follow Jesus, just because of them and their songs and music. Thats the true joy of any child of God to be blessed in seeing the seeds grow.
If you want to really be a blessing and stand for Naomi and all that she has done for the Lord. Then I would make sure that I got a copy of the new Cd and I would make sure I talked about it with friends and family, I would also make sure that every concert or singing that Naomi sang at and I am close at all I would be in that crowd to clap hands, praise the Lord and sing right along with her. I would also make sure that Naomi knew I was there and praying for her always and thank her for the blessing of her music and songs. Most of all if I could not make it to the singing because of other engagements, I would make sure that I aleast sent an offering or the price of a ticket to her so she again will know that Gods own love for her is in your heart.
Tell me that any one of you singers and songwriters would not be blown away with overwhelming joy straight from God to see fellow singers and song writers in the crowd supporting you in spirit and prayer and financial.
You really want to show your love and support? Lets pack the house when we can and invest in a stamp now and then and let some one know that you are praying for them, e-mails are good but a note is such a warm touch of love for a brother or sister.
God has given us all such a special gift of love to be given to our brothers and sisters for His glory and our blessings, let us not waste a single chance to bless and be blessed.
As always I will do everything I can to support Southern Gospel music and the artist and if any concerts are close, I will be there if I can, but if I am working then I push even harder to let people know where the concert is and tell them they need to be there. I always pray for a packed house for every one of you artist/messengers.

May God bless your each and every need.

    Brother Gene

If... after all of the deceptive dealings and "misconceptions" that were conceived by "someone" out there;(tongue in cheek) vine records can perpetrate, now, the pretext that "all is fine" in the "Sego camp" (whoever owns it),it seems to me that quite a few people have just lost credibility. It is really sad, that integrity among gospel singers (who we would really like to believe) is so in question. Once again, where did this all start? And where will it all end?

Just when you think you’ve heard the last of all this, the boys strike again. I guess when the news sites didn’t give enough attention to the Vine records “press release”, they needed another outlet. The “press release” was sent to subscribers through Naomi’s e-mail newsletter earlier this week.

I’m almost speechless. But I guess, at this point, this shouldn't surprise me.
