Arden-NC: Multi-award winning songwriter and performer Jerry Salley will release his first major solo recording with Mountain Home Music Company, a Division of Crossroads Entertainment and Marketing. The new project, New Songs, Old Friends, is a collection of self-penned tunes and has Salley teaming up with some of his favorite singers and musicians including : Vince Gill, Doyle Lawson, Bryan Sutton, The Oak Ridge Boys, Darryl Worley, Adam Steffey, Jamie Johnson, Lisa Shaffer, Rob Ickes, Del McCoury, Sonya Isaacs, David Talbot, Rhonda Vincent, Carl Jackson, Stuart Duncan, Larry Cordle, Keith Sewell, Wendy Sewell, Ben Isaacs, Alecia Nugent, Ricky Skaggs, and Sharon White. “I wanted to do a bluegrass project that included some of the wonderful artists who have recorded my songs in the past - folks I respect and am honored to call “friends”,” comments Salley. “Each artist brought their own unique sound and talent to the project, truly making it a very special ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ recording. I’ve known most of them for a long time and I value the quality of our relationships, both professionally and personally.”
Considered one of Music Row’s most successful writers, Salley is known in the Bluegrass, Gospel and Mainstream Country markets as a masterful tunesmith. New Songs, Old Friends gives examples of all of Salley’s strengths from his own version of I’m Gonna Take That Mountain, recorded by Reba McEntire, to the Southern Gospel leanings of John in the Jordan all done Bluegrass style by the best players in the genre today.
“This is Jerry’s first major release,” states Ty Gilpin of Mountain Home Music Company. “Although the top performers in the business have recorded his tunes, this project allows him to shine both as a singer and performer as well as a powerful writer.”
Salley’s new project is scheduled for a January 16th release with Mountain Home Music Company.
