I don’t know which SGM performers attended the 2009 Hall of Fame inductions as spectators but the ones who performed during the ceremony included:  Booth Brothers, Chuckwagon Gang, Dixie Echoes, Dove Brothers, Greater Vision, Mark Trammell Trio and the Gospel Harmony Boys.

This is fine with me.  To me the Fan Awards have gotten quite tired over the past few years and I’ll be happy to have NQC Fan Award Free so I can go anytime without having to schedule around the awards.

I think this is a lose-lose situation for the fans and the NQC. The SN fan awards being moved to Sat. night did seem to help the attendance on Sat. night and was a great way to bring the NQC to a close. Unless the NQC does come up with some other type of award presentation Sat. night could be a pretty sparse crowd in my opinion. I really don’t see a benefit for Singing News in this either, unless Dollywood is offering them some kind of incentives.

The awards was the highlight of NQC for so many people that probably will NOT get to see them when they move to Dollywood.  I think this is NOT in the best interest of the NQC.  Attendance has declined in the last few years——I fear this will only make it worse.  Maybe NQC board (or whoever is responsible) will reconsider this decision.  Dolly has enough money without moving the awards to Dollywood.  LOL !!

I attended the Hall of Fame ceremony a couple of years ago when it was held on a day when Dollywood was closed to the public.  Enjoyed it a lot.  Did not attend in 2009 when it was held on a day that Dollywood was open.  What about those of us who hold season tickets to Dollywood.  Will we be required to pay a fee that would include entrance to Dollywood?

Those holding a season pass will be required to pay $50 to attend the award ceremony (including luncheon, etc).  Those w/o season pass, the fee will remain the same ($70). This is my understanding from the letter I received from SGMA.

My response is just what in the world were they thinking…...moved from Thur to Sat…....how conveeeeeeniently they’ve forgot why they moved it. They must be getting something of value to move to Dollywood and since Steve French is on the NQC board must have helped in the decision with his Kingdom Heirs performing there.

I vote it’s a bad move and probably a MONEY move.

Another quick thought with a question….....since I haven’t been able to go to the NQC, my Season Tickets have gone to the same lady to enjoy them….....so I’ve got a question. Since the NQC announced this in Jan, I can’t imagine there wasn’t any talk about this in Sept. They didn’t get up in 2010 and say, “New Year, New NQC Venue”. They must have been planning this for some time, probably during the NQC it was in the works.

My Question: Did anyone that attended in Sept hear any talk around the booth areas that this was being considered? Since they just changed it to Sat night, they really haven’t given it enough time to play out. It’s been Sat now for what…..two years…...it wouldn’t surprise me to find the REAL reason it’s moving.

What does the above quote mean?

Most of the time when a change is fixing to take place, there is some talk, speculation of the sort of what might be in the works. I’m just wondering if there was any talk during the week of NQC about changing the SN Awards night from Sat in Louisville to Dollywood a month later.

It was no secret that they moved the SN Awards from Thur to Sat several years ago purposely for attendance purposes. Now because they are moving to Dollywood, just wondering if they gave a reason, not that we, the SGM fans are owed one, but most of the time they do give a reason…..even if it is generic and makes no sense to us the fans….at least they give a reason.

Only thing I’ve heard is that it’s moving with no reasoning behind the move. I’m sure the NQC have put their thinking hats on and figure it’s a good business decision but I think the fans should at least be included in their thinking and reasoning.

I was at NQC the entire week last year, and I did not hear it mentioned’‘’‘'not during the nightly concerts anyway.  There might be a good reason for it, but I just don’t see where it will be good for the NQC attenders.
