Will admission to the awards ceremony at Dollywood be included in the park admission ticket and/or
will the tickets for NQC for Sat. night be reduced in price? Or is an additional ticket going to be required
for the awards show? Just wondering…...
They are combining the fan awards with SGM Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The Hall of Fame Induction carries a pretty pricey ticket already. I’m sure it will be at least as much or more now. I can’t imagine that NQC will be reducing their ticket cost for Saturday night either.
I think this will decrease the attendance on Saturday night, as well as give a reason for artists to pack it in on Thursday or Friday night, if they are not singing on the main stage Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Please participate in this poll, it runs thru the end of August, at which time I will forward the results to the NQC:
Should The SN Fan Awards Remain In Louisville At The NQC Or Be Moved To Dollywood,TN After The NQC? http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/469733
My initial reaction to this news is that a lot of fans will be unhappy with this change. SGM fans come from all over the world to the NQC every year and part of that experience is getting to see the artists they voted for win the Fan awards. I, honestly, can’t see the benefit for the fans in this move. Maybe I’m missing something here. I’m sure the time slot at the NQC will be filled with artist performances, so I wouldn’t see why the ticket prices would change. I’m afraid this change is going to further hurt an already diminishing genre, but I hope I’m wrong.
I agree with these thoughts that this move will hurt the Sat. night attendance at NQC for both the artists and the attendees, because as the original info stated, the awards program has been part of the NQC since the early 70s, so why change now. MANY, MANY of the artists are gone from NQC by Sat. night as it is, so this will only cause more to leave early, as well as attendees. It will be hard financially for people to go to the NQC the middle of Sept. and then to Sevierville a couple weeks later. With many more changes like this, there probably won’t be an NQC at all for much longer.

Perhaps NQC could start their own awards. Send out ballets with the tickets for us to fill out and return.
Also, wasn’t the awards night move from Thurs. to Sat. a few years ago to boost Sat. attendance/interest.
I must be in the minority here - because I feel like this a great move for all parties involved.
SGMA Hall of Fame gains more significance in the eyes of the fans…
Fan Awards can finally create an identity for themselves outside of NQC and build the kind of program they’ve always wanted and not be limited…
NQC can fill the rest of the night up talent and maybe add some new faces…
I’m wondering if part of the reason for the move was that they were never able to keep the cermonies to the allotted time frame. They should either have cut out ALL talk or expanded the time. Personally towards the end of the ceremonies I would always get a tad restless. Not holding my attention at all. I will kind of miss them and kind of not. Hmmm - I seem to be sitting securely on the fence! LOL
I am in agreement in part with 90% of the responses!
Seriously, I realize that this may “allow” the groups that are not singing on Saturday (or Friday) to leave early, which is bad for the many folks that only get to be there on Thurs-Saturday…. The exhibit hall is apt to be a ghost town. That was my understanding of why they moved the awards to Saturday night. I also think it’s a bit bad to have the groups be at NQC all week with all the expense and not any or not much income…. and then ask them to spend more time and money to be in attendance at the new awards night in Pigeon Forge when they may have many miles to go to get there and also to go when when they leave there…..
