So, Why Did Aaron McCune Leave GC?

While I believe that the greatest help to GC at this point is our prayers on their behalf, it is hard to imagine why Aaron McCune would leave Gold City. Certainly the intent in my question is no more than to understand why and not to start up the “rumor mill”. Maybe we’ll never know?!

Maybe its none of our business to know. How would us knowing effect Gold City or Aaron in anyway? It only serves to satisfy our own curisoty and nothing more. If Aaron wants the SG community to know the “why” I am sure he will eventually let us know. If he does not wish that information to be given, then we should respect those wishes and continue praying for all involved.

Replies like the above are simpy weak attempts to circumvent the rules of the Message board and are made to make the poster appear to have more knowledge than they do. Further attempts will be removed!

I do not know the situation but it is troubling to me that Christian people will see the darkest motives in three seperate situations and try to make it all some deep problem.  Perhaps it is three seperate situations and everyone had the right motives.  Now, I have been guilty of thinking the worst at times about groups, but I am not standing still in my walk and His grace is sufficient to help me in my effort to overcome my natural man.

Anybody read 1 Corinthians 13 latley?

Sorry, I didn’t mean to start preaching but I love Gold City and want the best for them.

Me too.  I don’t need to know the details.  What’s done is done.

But, I would like to know what is wrong with everybody’s “Ss” key?

I hope it’s not some new virus going around?  grin

Lift up Gold City in your prayers that they continue God’s work and that they keep God in the fore front of everything they do…. Let God bless thru the good and the bad times.

God will provide.  The ole devil can not win…...  I praying they find someone that will carry the torch as they should for the Lord.

Lift all the guys up in prayer.  It’s what we are supposed to do.  SHOW THE LOVE!  It’s all about love.

Agreed. Again, my purpose was just merely to know why. I wasn’t looking for rumor or what somebody “thinks” is the reason, as that is ultimately rumor as well. I am a keen fan of GC and have been for 20 years. I pray and hope the best for Danny as he makes his decisions. I simply felt that in most cases, the group mgr./owner gives a statement as to where the Lord is leading the departed member as was the case with Steve Ladd. If this is not going to happen in Aaron’s case..so be it. I guess I am interested in what happens to these individuals. As fans we learn to appreciate their talent and how they fit in the group, we learn to love them for who they are and it is hard to see these individuals move on. We know down deep the Lord has his purposes, but the human side of us doesn’t like change. I don’t know about the rest of my fellow poster’s, but I may have even shed a tear when Tim Riley left the road. Anyone having met Tim would agree that his heart was serving his Lord and is as classy and down to earth as they come and always had time for fans. He made a mark in my life as the newer lineups have begun to do as well.

Maybe he missed his wife and son and wanted to spend more time with them, it is not always about the $$$

Praise God! This I shall do, now and forever. And without shame, my heart is for the Lord.

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Psalms 133:1) Let me just say first of all that I love each poster on this thread in the Lord Jesus Christ and I want to say a few things not to criticize but to exhort and edify you as part of the body of Christ.

I have personally spoken to a current member of Gold City and I felt compelled to respond to the question of this thread and to the lightly veiled accusations. First let me say how much I respect Danny and Aaron and the rest of the current and former members for not wading off into the rumor and speculation. Steve Ladd has been praying for well over a year about God’s will for his life and in God’s perfect timing He gave Steve a clear cut direction for his ministry and opened the door. So Steve left. Danny and Gold City have known for quite some time of Josh’s desire to go to school and they have been planning for his departure. At God’s perfect timing Josh is leaving. Aaron has some personal business that he needed to attend to that like many former gospel music artist, prevented from being able to take care of His obligations and keep a hectic travel schedule, so Aaron made the decision that he felt was in the best interest of God’s will and direction for his life and he left.

Because of the timing of all these departures I will be the first to say that it looks like a real train wreck. But all we see are the press releases and the ideas that pop in each one of our heads and of course Satan’s favorite tool the rumormill. It is because of our fallen human nature that most of the time we all (myself included) will believe the bad stories first! However, the Bible says that God directs our paths and that He is so involved in our common everyday lives that he has even numbered the hairs on our heads. With that close Divine involvement I believe common sense would have to say that God is very involved in Gold City and the paths and the direction of that powerful ministry. None of these departures caught God off guard. I believe that he orchestrated the entire change that we see taking place before us. (And as masterful as Lari Goss is at orchestration and he is just watch the Master Orchestrator!! WoW) Each of the men who have left Gold City are powerful anointed men of God and they should be given the honor and respect that is due each of them. Even though we might not know the entire stories and all the details it is incumbent on all of us who claim the banner of the Cross and call ourselves Christians to give each of these men time in our daily prayer life to pray God’s richest blessings on them and their families and the new directions that God has called each of them to. Change is difficult for all of us and they are no exceptions.

Let me humbly exhort each of you in the name of Jesus Christ to commit with me to pray at least once a day for each of these men who have left. Pray for them by name! Also, commit with me to pray for the current and future lineup of Gold City and again pray for them by name! And commit with me to pray for Danny Riley that God will give him peace and a clear cut direction for this ministry. All the weight and stress of this ministry is on Danny’s shoulders right now and he needs some people to come up with him and hold his arms up and support him.

Satan would like nothing better than to side-line the ministry of Gold City and he would really like to do it by using Christians to tear it down and do his dirty work, but let us rise up and tell the Devil “not this time!!” and bathe that whole ministry in prayer!! It is also very hard to talk bad about and spread rumors about someone when you are spending time everyday to pray for them.

It is my prayer that you will each take this post in the spirit it was written. I am not perfect and I have failed in every way spreading rumors and gossip in the past. But Thank God for His wonderful Grace and Forgiveness that I have used much more than my share!!

I love each of you even though I do not know you. We are family and I look forward to our time together we we get to the house! Until then let us do as Jonathan did ““And Jonathan Saul’s son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God” (I Samuel 23:16). Let us go to Danny Riley and all of Gold City and strengthen their Hand in the God!! Pray for them and take the time to drop Danny an e-mail or a letter and let him know you are behind them and are praying for them and last but not least when you hear a Brother or Sister who wants to spread rumors and gossip. Love on them and exhort them and show them there is a better way. One that will result in more souls for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ “Ain’t that what it’s all about” I love you!

Thank you for your post! I love GC just as much as the next and I agree that we need to pray for them by name. The current, past and future members.

Josh left to go college; he told me that himself.
Steve left for, among other things, to start a possible solo career.

As far as Aaron, don’t know.  Since he did not hang around for a replacement, you get the idea something strange happened.  Whatever it is, and I’ll just be plain, it was more than the “he wanted to spend more time with the family” stuff that we get told whenever someone leaves a band.  And then the fact that there is still no mention of Aaron leaving on their web site does not improve the situation.
