If you have not seen this movie yet, you should!  It is an awesome Christian movie.  The gospel is presented.  It will save a lot of marriages and lead people to Christ.  Warren Barfield’s song “Love is Not a Fight”  is featured in the movie.  Warren has been on tour with Crabb Revival in the Runaway Train Tour.

Anyone else seen it????

My wife and I saw the movie on opening night and thought they did a great job with it.  Great story, powerful message, and it offers hope to those who think there is none.  If you are thinking about going, please do SOON.  The better it does in the theater, the more theaters decide to pick it up.  More people will have a chance to see it and be impacted by the message.  I thank God that Sherwood Baptist Church has decided to impact our culture in such a powerful way.  I highly recommend all three of their movies(Flywheel and Facing the Giants).

I’ve actually seen it twice already. I got invited to a pastor’s preview back in August. The movie is one of the all-time greats when you consider the total package of story, message, etc. Everybody who is considering marriage, who is married, whoever has been married, or has ever been married should see it.

The acting looks extremely cheesy in the previews.  I’ve got an interview up on my site with the writer and stars (thebridgelive.net).  I’ll probably just wait until the DVD comes out.

Chris, do you really think this movie is not worth your time because the actors are volunteer? Methinks you are REALLY missing the point of the movie.

Anita and I saw the movie over the weekend and really enjoyed it. I think it is one of the best “Christian” movies that have been made.

The acting looks extremely cheesy in the previews.  I’ve got an interview up on my site with the writer and stars (thebridgelive.net).  I’ll probably just wait until the DVD comes out.

Chris, Kirk Cameron and the girl that plays his wife (sorry, I’ve forgotten her name) are professional actors and definitely NOT cheesy!  Of course Sherwood uses people in their church also, who are not professional actors,  so their acting may not be the quality you are used.  However,  I really didn’t mind if their performances were not as good as some of the others.  The movie was humorous…something I didn’t expect…along with the serious note to present the Gospel and hope for marriages.  The only comments I heard while leaving the theatre and from anyone who has seen it were and are all extremely POSITIVE.  I have not heard one person comment on the abilities of the actors.  I don’t think it took one thing away from the message or entertainment quality of the movie.  I still highly recommend it!

Also, for those interested, if you go to the site, there are Bible Study books and other items related to marriage, commitment and the movie’s them for studies in churches or with friends.  I think it would be a great thing for churches to do.  With the divorce rate higher than ever, even in churches, we need to have studies like this.  Many churches in our area are doing the study.

Where did I say that?  I said the acting looked cheesy.  Acting can look cheesy whether the actors are volunteers or are paid to be there (see Sylvester Stallone, Arnold S, Keanue Reeves, etc.)

I didn’t say anything about the point of the movie.  I was just making an observation on ONE aspect of the film based on the previews.

Methinks you REALLY missed the point of my original post.

If so, I apologize. But looking at your comment - it seemed like since the acting looked “cheesy” it wasn’t worth your effort to go see it at the theaters, since you were going to wait for the DVD. . . Anyone who is married, who has been married and who is thinking of being married at some point needs to see it.

My wife and I saw it a week ago Saturday.  Loved it, was moved and inspired by it, although I admit it was on par with the average “Lifetime” movie with regard to acting and writing.  It’s amazing that this movie, filmed on a budget of $500,000, has gone on to gross about $17 million and has spawned a bestselling book.  Hopefully Hollywood takes notice.

I just went to the website for this movie and saw that the count is at almost 1800 marriages saved, according to the testimonials posted there:

http://www.fireproofthemovie.com/stories/

Just reading what God is doing in lives through this movie was such a blessing today.  No matter how safe Christians think they are in their marriages, the enemy seeks to devour anyone trying to serve the Lord.  Sometimes where we let him in most is in our marriages.  The divorce rate, even among Christian couples, proves that.

If you haven’t seen the movie, go to the testimonials and read what God is doing.  It will bless your day!  Also, I would highly recommend listening to Warren Barfield’s song “Love is Not a Fight,” or watching the “Slow Fade” video by Casting Crowns.  Both are included in the movie.  During the Runaway Train Tour, Warren Barfield shares the story behind the song and how he and his Christian wife were ready to throw in the towel on their 7 year marriage over a fight that started over a pretzel.  It really makes you think what insignificant things arguments have started over in your own marriage.  The devil is a sly old fox.  He will use the most minute things for blow-ups, if we are not guarding our marriage and letting Christ protect it.
