Daywind Music Publishing recently announced the addition of Dee Gaskin to its staff of writers.

"Joining Daywind as a writer is a joy. I’m already starting to write new songs with their writers, and I can’t wait to write even more," Dee said.

"I’ve sung Dee’s songs in church all my life. ‘Lay It Down and Leave It’, ‘He’s My Hiding Place’ and ‘Come Morning" are three of my favorites," Daywind’s Wayne Haun said.

Dee continues to have a thriving writing career in southern gospel and bluegrass music. Her most recent effort is currently playing on radio with The Hoppers. Dee is the lyricist on the top 40 hit "She Cries".

Dee admits all of her inspiration comes from her personal life. She tells the story of developing "She Cries" as she thought about holding her children and counting every finger and toe. "The Sun’s Coming Up" (made popular by The Nelons) was inspired by trials in her life and always knowing the sun will rise tomorrow if the "Lord-willing".

"I constantly find myself humbled by the writers I get to work with. I, too, remember hearing Dee’s songs sang over and over at every Saturday night singing and Sunday morning fellowship. Her songs are classics and standards in my church upbringing," Daywind’s Brian Copeland said.

Dee remains faithful to southern and bluegrass gospel songwriting. Dee joins Daywind’s roster alongside Gerald Crabb, Kyla Rowland, Mike Payne, Ann Ballard, Savana Foust, Wayne Haun, Gina Vera, Jerry Salley, Depp Britt, Marty Funderburk, Cindi Ballard, Mike Richards, Eulalia King, Matt Garinger, Pamela Furr, Joe Johnston and Bev Lowry.

For more information on Dee’s music, contact Brian Copeland at (615) 826-8101.

I visited with Steve Bradford (Editor of Gospel Music News) in Portageville, MO, all day and sang a little. I told Steve I had over 50 Southern Gospel lyrics but I did not know of anyone who is a songwriter. He suggested I contact Ann Ballard because she lives in Jonesboro. Could I get your assistance in locating her, please? She is not listed in the phone book. Thank you very much. LW
