A lot of individuals have speculated as to why a relatively new group like Triumphant Quartet has managed to be so successful so fast. Much of that success can be attributed to the fact that they've maintained the same line-up for over seven years now. That much time on the road together really helps to give the guys an instantly recognizable sound - and the group doesn't deviate from that sound on their latest mainline Daywind Records recording Everyday.
This time around, Triumphant Quartet utilized the help of producer-extraordinaire Wayne Haun. As usual, his expertise helps to elevate the record to a whole new level. The record opens with the Joel Hemphill classic "Jesus Built This Church On Love" which features a stellar vocal performance from tenor David Sutton. The group immediately jumps into another cover tune as they tackle the Oak Ridge Boys' "Everyday" - hitting the ball out of the park on this album highlight.
Scott Inman pulls off a fantastic performance on "Somebody Died For Me" - a song that utilizes the tried and true Country way of writing that features a story that tugs at the heart while sliding in elements of the Gospel as well. Inman is also turning into a nice writer as finely displayed on "Do You Know ThatYou Know."
There are very few bass singers who can hold a solo line as well as Eric Bennett (save David Hester or Tim Duncan) - and he does another smashing job with the Jerry Goff and Wayne Haun penned "One Drop of Blood." This is an excellent ballad that would be at home on any traditional group's record. Speaking of traditional, it doesn't get any better for fans of traditional southern than on "What a Wonderful Day."
Overall, with songs from writers like Dianne Wilkinson, Paula Stefanovich, Kyle Matthews, Joel Hemphill, Rodney Griffin, Joel Lindsey, and more - you know that the song selection is going to be great. Haun did another bang up job on this Daywind release. Everyday is yet another project that fans will love from Triumphant Quartet.
