Three Bridges, Filled with Promises

Three Bridges is doing great on the Southern Gospel scene. Your style is not what I would call tradition. How would you describe the unique sound of Three Bridges?
Elliott: Our Music is a cross between traditional gospel and black gospel with a soulful sound. We are just being ourselves!

Not only do you have a unique sound, but you also have a unique name. How did you come up with the name Three Bridges?
Elliott: We are a trio of men with their lives bridged to Jesus Christ and we want to be a Bridge to Christ thus the name Three Bridges...

I know that you guys do a lot of singing at Quixtar "Amway" events. Do you sing the same style? How is your performance different?
Elliott: We do a lot of patriotic music like "God Bless The USA", "America The Beautiful"and Inspirational music like "Walk On" and "Somebody Bigger Than You and I" on Friday and Saturday and southern Gospel music on Sunday mornings. We have seen thousands give their heart to the Lord in these concerts over the last four years. Last year July the 4th weekend we were in Ottawa, Canada and over 1800 people gave their hearts to our Lord Jesus Christ.

A lot of Three Bridges material seems to come from old Black Gospel groups. How do you get your song selection when you record?
Elliott: We look for material from all of the great writers in Southern Gospel music like Squire Parsons, Phil Cross, Gerald Crabb, Glen Bates, Chris White, Bill Gaither and on our new project "Promises" we included a song written just for Three Bridges by Ronnie Hinson, wait until you here this song it is entitled "A Little Song Coming On". We have recorded a few songs that Black Gospel artist have recorded simply because they have a great message.

With all of the emphasis today on young people in SGM today, how do you explain the popularity of three middle aged guys in this market? How do you explain your appeal to the youth today?
Elliott: Great Looks! Just Kidding. I think radio has embraced our music because of the soulful sound and as you have stated "the unique sound". We get to see first hand in our concerts the young people enjoying our music with songs like "I'm A Soldier In The Army of The Lord", and "Cooling Walter" they love to here our lead singer Mitch Kenitzer he has a voice that they love!.

Is there a song that you guys only sing on the bus that doesn't fit in your program and fans would be shocked that you three love to sing it?
Elliott: The answer is Yes, we sing a Statler Brothers song "Elizabeth" written by our friend Jimmy Fortune what a great love song and when we are on the road too long I call my wife and sing to her "Lonely Days and Lonely Nights" by the Bee Gees.

If all three of you were not singing, what would each of you be doing to put food on the table?
Elliott: I would be a car salesman, Mitch would be a house painter and Dave would be a be a tile layer.

What's the most miraculous thing that has happened in each of your lives? How did that change your lives?
Elliott: That's an easy one, for all three of us the answer is the same. The day that we were Born Again!!! It not only changed our lives it saved our lives, Praise God forever!!!

What kind of vitamins do you guys take to have so much energy on stage every night?
Elliott: We take a lot of multi-vitamins, C's and Omega 3's we need these to stay up with young groups like Crystal River, and two third's of Sunday Edition you know which two third's I am referring to.

Elliott McCoy, Dave McVay and Mitchel Kenitzer can be seen on http://www.threebridges.net along with a preview of their newest project, Promises. To see and hear Three Bridges in person, be sure to make plans to see them Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at the 7th Annual Gospel Music Fan Festival in Smyrna, TN.
