The Talleys - Jul 05

Hi everyone!

My apologies for sending this out a little late this month; traveling plus studio work have thrown my schedule a little off course as of late. Hope this finds everyone well; I've enjoyed hearing from many of you in response to last month's letter. Because I didn't share any regular news last time, I have a good bit to catch up on.....

A while back, our "Praise For The Ages" recording was the recipient of SoGospelNews.com's Progressive Album of the Year Award. Thanks to SoGospelNews for doing all that you do to promote Gospel Music, and especially for thinking of us.

My dad had a big week last week. His three gift-receiving occasions all fall in the same week: his birthday, Father's Day, and my parents' anniversary. Mom and Dad just celebrated 27 years of marriage, and I'd tell you how old he is, but he doesn't mind if I tell his age, which just takes all the fun out of it. smile

We are doubling up on our vitamins and caffeine for the Steve Hurst School of Music which begins July 10. Mom and I teach vocal and performance technique for individuals and organized groups during this exciting week. If you sing, play the piano, write songs, or lead worship in church and are interested in next year, log onto http://www.stevehurstschoolofmusic.com and you can find everything you need to know.

Right after we get home from the school, we begin making last-minute preparations for our Smoky Mountain Homecoming! It is approximately three weeks away, and you still have time to grab a seat. It all happens July 22-23, and you'll see and hear the Talleys along with our guests Anthony Burger, Mercy's Mark Quartet, and the Booth Brothers. Also, don't forget our talent contest Saturday morning. The winners from the solo and group divisions will be taking home some great prizes! Log onto http://www.talleytrio.com or call 423-235-2916 and plan your trip to the mountains before it's too late.

The Talleys are very excited to have the opportunity to return to New York in August, to perform at the renowned Brooklyn Tabernacle. Pastor Jim Cymbala saw us sing "His Life For Mine" sometime ago on television, and invited us to come especially to sing that song. When we have visited that church in the past, I think we went away the most blessed of anyone there. They know how to worship.

Speaking of "His Life For Mine," we also will be performing the song as a Top Ten nominee for Song of the Year at the Singing News Fan Awards ceremony held Thursday night at the National Quartet Convention. We are so proud of its writer, Rebecca Peck, and so thankful that she let us have it!

One more thing- please be in prayer for our secretary, Bobbie Susong, who had to have emergency surgery this past weekend. She's resting ok, but will be out of the office for approximately 6-8 weeks. During this time, your patience and cooperation with correspondence and orders will be much appreciated. We'll try to be as expeditious as possible while Bobbie's gone. Guess we've worn the poor girl out.....

Hopefully the newsletter should be back on schedule next month. Please keep us in your prayers.

Until next time,

Lauren Talley
