The Sound of Southern Gospel

Here is the final "Sound of Southern Gospel" It's more of a going away thing....

A lot has been going on in my world, thus the reason for no article as of late. Most of you know how so much change happens in this industry, and it has struck again. A friend and myslelf were recently downsized from the group we worked with, due to a slow economy/industry. So, I am no longer in the Southern Gospel insustry per say. I will be working with a compnay called Icon Entertainment, who provides audio for events and concerts. My full time job however is very exciting! I have accepted a position with Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge, TN. as their new Audio and Lighting Supervisor. My start date is September 19th. I wanted to say thanks to everyone I've met along the way, and you know who you are. To my former employer, thank you so much for the opportunity you gave me to do something I never thought I would get to do. Anybody that would like to stay in touch, contact info will be below. Thanks for letting me ramble on about what I love and hope it has helped someone along the way to improve the "Sound of Southern Gospel" or whatever you're doing sound for. Finally thanks to SoGospelNews.com for letting me have this forum to use and their constant pursuit to better the insustry.

    Josh,

I thank you for writing 'The Sound'. I've read almost every one of your wonderful articles since finding this website, and they have been both interesting and helpful. It's obvious you are a talented man and I wish you every success in your new position! May God continue to richly bless your life as you keep Him first.

    Hey Josh,

I was saddened to hear that Gold City released you, Barry and Adam Borden. Could it be that rather than a struggling economy/industry, that the abscense of a booking agency was to blame? It is great to hear that Gold City finally signed with the Harper Agency. The next step in regaining the popularity they had with Parrick, Riley and Eleton, is to CHOOSE DIFFERENT SONGS! Sure, "Well of Grace" and "Heaven" are nice songs but they lack the ability to make me play them over and over and over like I do songs like "God Handled It All," "When He Calls Me I'll Fly Away," and "John Saw." Gold City will never fully be what they used to be as long as they continue in their new, contemporary selection of songs.
