The Lighthouse - May 2003

This month I want to share with you some thoughts about a special song. Before I do, I would like to share some news from The Lighthouse.

imageCONGRATULATIONS to THE WHISNANTS on their 2nd #1 song! "What You Took From Me" will be the #1 song for June in the Singing News Top 80! (To Susan: I told ya we had it! LOL!!)

Many of our artists are preparing to work on new projects. Some are currently working in the studio on new projects and a few just finished! Please keep every artist in prayer as they try to bring fresh, new, exciting material to you!

The Whisnants are preparing to work on a new project. Currently in the studio are: The Jody Brown Indian Family, The Phillips Family, & Divine Purpose. A few of our artists have brand new recordings on the way! Look for the new releases by The Primitives ("30th Anniversary"), The Redeemed ("So Far"), & Mike Upright ("Hallelujah Handy"). And the new projects that are already out: The Living Waters Trio ("Talk To Me") & Set Apart ("The Next Time He Comes").

imageThere is a song that is currently being played on Southern Gospel Radio called, "Thank God For My Christian Home." It was recorded by one of the most talented (and classiest!) ladies in our industry, Janet Paschal. The first time I heard her sing this song, I knew it was going to be a special song. I knew that listeners would feel the same way I did.

When I heard these lyrics sung by Janet, my mind wondered back to the home I was raised in. I immediately thought about my mom and dad. I thought about how hard it must have been to raise 5 kids in a small home and keep their christianity!! LOL!! Just like any other family we had our problems. One
thing remained consistent during my childhood, the example that was set by my mom and dad. When troubles came our way, mom and dad showed us who to put our trust and faith in. They were a shining example of what a Christian was all about.

Here I am several years later.....I have a family of my own. I have a wife and a son. Zachary is 2 and a half...and he is about to gain a little brother or sister. Diana and I are expecting another child in December! My prayer is that Zachary and his brother (or sister!) see that same example in me and Diane that I seen in my parents. I want to give Zachary a home where he feels safe. I want our home to be a refuge for him. I want him to know he can always come home when he needs us. I am a firm believer in Proverb 22:6. It says, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (kjv) I want him to look back at his home and say he had a happy childhood. I want Zachary to have good memories and know that his mom and dad loves him. But most of all, I want him to look back and say that he was raised in a Christian Home....and he is thankful and grateful for that!

I want to thank Janet for recording "Thank God For My Christian Home." This song has been such a blessing to me and my family. I have talked to so many dj's that have shared their testimony about the song and how they are thankful for their christian home. If you would like to share your testimony please send me an email...I would love to pass this along to Janet. Our artists need to be encouraged too! I want to close by saying a BIG THANK YOU to all the dj's for playing "What You Took From Me," by the Whisnants. Thanks for help making this their 2nd #1 song! Thanks for playing our artists!

Until Next Time,

Shane Ferrell

Hello Shane congradulations on the new baby. Shane I noticed that our song is so differant from the traditional Southern Gospel music, sould I be putting it under a Country Gospel Promoter.
I don't have a clue if it is being played, I just know that WETB only plays it if someone request it. And the station in Ewrin not at all. Makes me wonder if I am out of my area. Is there a way of me knowing if it is being played or not. Is there a web site I can pull up that shows if it is charted. Thanks Teresa
