The Imperials Wrap Up Successful Christmas Tour

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame inductees The Imperials just completed their annual Christmas tour. For several years now, they have offered a Christmas Show as part of their Christmas tour. The “show” involves a beautiful backdrop, lights, props, comedy, and of course a lot of great Christmas music.

“We want to present a Christmas event that will be enjoyable for the whole family,” says Jeremie Hudson, tenor for The Imperials. “Some of the songs are Christmas hymns like “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” “Silent Night,” and “O Holy Night”; others are ‘secular’ favorites like “Sleigh Ride” and “White Christmas”; and we even have a children’s section where the kids in the audience come on stage songs with us like “Jingle Bells” and “Away In A Manger.”

This year’s tour began in Columbia, Tennessee and then had stops in Brownsburg, Indiana, and the Fort Wayne, Indiana area. After a couple of ministry days at the Tennessee Prison for Women in Nashville, Tennessee the tour moved to Texas with stops in Cleburne and Brownwood. The final leg of the tour found the group in Athens, Tennessee, Cleveland, Tennessee, Nashville, Tennessee, Chesapeake, Virginia, and Waynesboro, Virginia. The tour culminated with a trip to Washington DC for a scheduled performance on the Ellipse of the White House at the national Pageant of Peace.

One of the highlights of this year’s tour was what has become an annual ministry stop at the Tennessee Prison for Women for their Christmas party.

“We sang for about 750 inmates in three different events over two days,” says Shannon Smith, lead singer for The Imperials. “We were also able to sing for the women in solitary confinement as well as the new inmates. We were able to make a gospel presentation, and we saw at least 150 women commit their lives to Christ and were able to pray with several others and encourage them in their walk with the Lord.”

Overall, the tour saw over 200 people pray to receive Christ. All of the guys agreed that this is what made the tour a resounding success!

Be sure and listen for The Imperials’ first single in over five years at Southern Gospel and Inspirational radio all across the country. “Arise My Love” can be found on the group’s new self-titled release.
