The Harris Family - Rescued

Label: Independent
Website: http://www.harrisfamilymusic.com

The Harris Family hails from Pasadena, TX is made up of Roger and Sue Harris and their recently married daughter, Kristen Johnson. (Congratulations Kristen & Corey) Sue writes many of the songs that the group sings, however, her daughter Kristen, is quickly blossoming into quite the songwriter herself. Several songs on the project Rescued feature Sue and Kristen’s writing ability. Rescued certainly highlights the fact that the Harris Family sees the need for songs of encouragement and hope for hurting hearts in these last days.

The album kicks off with Testify written by Chris Binion & Jerry Kelso. The group starts out with solid vocals, which continue through the project. The God Who Will Provide is the first glimpse we get of Sue Harris’ writing. It is a very catchy upbeat chorus that is sure to be a crowd pleaser in concert. Kristen’s writing is featured on the ballad He Came to Me. This song features Roger & Kristen. The group really shines vocally making this one of the strongest cuts on the project. Their cover of Mighty to Save is a solid, classy presentation. It Doesn’t Matter is a strong ballad written by Sue and beautifully features her Anne Murray style voice.

This project could’ve improved with maybe adding real horns or strings on just a few songs and leaving the rest just a rhythm section. Overall, it’s a great introduction to the music of the Harris Family for those who may be new to their music. People familiar with the music of the group will agree that this particular project is their best to date!

Song List:

The God Who will Provide
He Came to Me
Don't Be Afraid, Just Believe
Will Anybody Love Me?
