The “GospelFest Hour” Now Has International Audience

For those southern gospel fans that enjoy not only the music, but also the history behind the songs, writers and performers, GospelFest Ministries, Inc. announces their radio program, the "GospelFest Hour," is now being syndicated not only nationally, but internationally as well. The "GospelFest Hour" began three years ago as a daily hour-long program on Peoria, Illinois' Moody affiliate, WBNH radio. It had been among the most popular programs on the station, which includes a combination of music and preaching programs. Working with Westar Media Group, syndication efforts began in early Spring of this year and as of early June, the program is now airing on 55 stations in 25 states, 2 provinces in Canada and 1 in Zambia, Africa!

The "GospelFest Hour" is a weekly hour-long program that not only plays today's southern gospel hits, but delves into the past and brings back classics and rarely heard songs from such southern gospel pioneers as the Speer Family, the Blackwood Brothers, the Happy Goodmans, the Blue Ridge Quartet and more. In addition, host Shawn Degenhart, president of GospelFest Ministries, also "digs a little deeper" and shares historical information about the songwriter, the group performing and the song as well. "People love these classic southern gospel songs. They are very personal to the listener," shares Degenhart. "However, when you know the circumstances behind the song, performer and writer, the song can take on a whole new meaning and have even more of an impact on the listener."

Recent programs have included a tribute to writers like Albert E. Brumley and Mosie Lister, and a special edition dedicated to the late Eva Mae LeFevre. For more information, please visit the ministry's website at http://www.gospelfestministries.com. There you'll find information about the radio program as well as the concert series and publishing ventures. A complete station listing is also available. If the program can't be heard in your area, contact your local station and ask them to pick up the "GospelFest Hour" available from Westar Media Group.
