The Dills - Faith

Producer:  Eddie & Jessica Harrison
Label:  Brookfield Music Group
Website:  www.thedills.net

Since the first time I heard this group, I have been a fan.  They remind me so much of the Nelons during their heyday in the 1980s, but yet they have a style that is uniquely their own.  Their last recording, “Preparing the Way” only prepared us for what this recording holds.  This is a spectacular piece of work and I am excited about the future for these guys.

The high energy of the uptempo, “HE WILL” starts the recording off, while the next song “I AM REDEEMED” is a powerhouse of a song and should allow them to finally break the Top 40.

The country feel of “THAT’S WHAT HE GAVE TO ME” written by Chris Binion and Tim Lovelace, makes for an enjoyable song before things slow down a bit for the song “OUTSIDE OF HEAVEN”.  Penned by Rodney Griffin, the song reminds us that outside of Heaven, there isn’t much left to be excited about.

Popularized back in the early 1980s by Contemporary group Truth, the resounding message of “JESUS NEVER FAILS” is as timeless as ever and is the real triumph of the whole recording and I would love to see this song hit radio in 2006.

The pace picks back up for the songs “THE NEWS IS OUT” and the highly enjoyable, “FOLLOWING IN HIS FOOTSTEPS” before things slow down for a song that was popularized back in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s by country legend Margo Smith and her daughter Holly, then later the Greenes entitled, “JUST THE BEGINNING FOR ME”, penned by Aaron Wilburn.  The Dills turn in a flawless performance on the song and is a definite highlight of the recording.

“WATER IN THE WILDERNESS”
is a medium tempo song reminding us that in those desert times in our lives, God provides living water to allow us to carry on, while the power ballad, “THE CROSS”, reminds us that if it wasn’t for the cross, we’d still be dead in our sins and transgressions and that the finished work on the cross brought new life to us.

A classic song for the Galileans many years ago and also recorded by Three Bridges, the Dills turn in an energetic performance of “I’M ON TOUR”, which begs for a vocal reprise, but none is given.

Kudos must be given to Eddie and Jessica Harrison of Hope’s Call for an outstanding job producing.  They really helped bring the Dills to another level.  I predict that the Dills will be the next family group to make a major splash in the industry.  These are the folks to watch and listen out for.  Great song selection, outstanding vocal abilities and slick music tracks make for one exceptional recording.

Personal Favs:  HE WILL; I AM REDEEMED; THAT’S WHAT HE GAVE
TO ME; JESUS NEVER FAILS; FOLLOWING IN HIS FOOTSTEPS; JUST THE BEGINNING FOR ME

I just heard the Dills for the first time at Murray Marketplace in Shirley, IN, and wow, they were good! The first thing I noticed was that their blend is beautiful. Besides that, their music is fun, their lyrics are powerful, and you can tell Whom they are singing for and about! I agree that their "Faith" CD is great! I especially like "He Will", "I Am Redeemed", "Jesus Never Fails", and "Following in His Footsteps".
