The Blind Boys of Alabama - Duets

Producer: Charles Driebe and Chris Goldsmith
Label: Saguaro Road Records
Website: http://www.blindboys.com

Not many groups can say they have Grammy Awards, Lifetime Achievement Awards and been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame like the Blind Boys of Alabama. They have a career that spans over 60 years and if their tour schedule and list of current releases is any indication, they have no intentions of slowing down.

Their latest release, Duets is a collection of songs that feature artists like Jars of Clay, Randy Travis, Asleep at the Wheel, Bonnie Raitt and many more. The Blind Boys of Alabama took the opportunity to release for themselves what artists gospel and secular alike, have been asking them for years to be a part of. The nature of Duets allows a tremendous variety. Up Above My Head is a more bluegrass style featuring Randy Travis. Secular Praise is an amazing ballad that does a really cool drive in the choruses featuring Timothy Schmit of the Eagles. Nothing but the Blood with Jars of Clay is a more contemporary gospel style. How I Got Over is a live cut featuring Marva Wright that is a more traditional gospel style with a ton of excitement.

I really enjoyed the great variety of music on this project. It is one of the most unique projects the Blind Boys of Alabama have ever released.

Song List:

Take My Hand
Magnificent Sanctuary Band
Perfect Peace
Up Above My Head (I Hear Music in the Air)
Secular Praise
I Had Trouble
When the Spell is Broken
Nothing But the Blood
Welcome Table
None of Us are Free
Jesus
How I Got Over (Live)
The Devil Ain't Lazy
One Kind of Favor
