I don’t think it’s possible that Woody Wright or Michael Sykes produce a bad recording. It’s just not in them. Though, I’m sure this Louisiana trio mostly likely didn’t need any help, Michael and Woody just seem to have that ear for good music.
This CD consists of some older songs, which many will recognize as classics, such as: “Somebody Loves Me”, “He Washed My Eyes”, “Where the Soul Never Dies” and “The Sweet Forever”. Being rather a young group, they seem to know how these older songs are supposed to be sung.
Beginning the CD is “Doubter to a Shouter”, an upbeat song about the change Jesus makes in our life. By the time you hear the second song, “Somebody Loves Me”, you’ll definitely be ready to shout! “Keep Walkin” is the title cut and has that southern gospel flavor. These boys know harmony and aren’t afraid to show it. “Starting Now” has a little country flair to it, but this group has no problem with it. “Looking for Jesus” is another oldie but goodie, however they have put a different beat to it. It kind of makes you want to clap your hands.
I have to say that this group has the blend needed for these old songs, and you can definitely tell they love this music. One thing I must say is that these boys would be a GREAT quartet if they had a bass singer. I guess we’ll settle for a GREAT trio instead!
My Picks: “Doubter To A Shouter”, “Keep Walking”, “Starting Now”, Price of Love”, “Where the Soul Never Dies”, and “The Sweet Forever”
