Terry Terrell - A New Beginning

Producer: Russell Sims & Frank Green
Label: Sims Records
Website: http://www.terryterrellsings.com

Terry Terrell was quickly making a name for himself several years ago. With the help of Journey Records, Terrell was the go-to guy for a country sound with a Gospel message in the Southern Gospel circuit. Terry's latest release, A New Beginning, was released with Sim Records and continues down the same path as his last few releases.

A New Beginning features that country Southern Gospel sound not unlike what you'd hear from Mike Bowling, The Hinsons, Zane King, or The Freemans. The album is pretty low-key for the most part - as Terrell sings those country ballads with the best of them. Look for songs like "Nail Scarred Hands," "The Missing Piece," and "Mother's Day" to be crowd favorites. Terrell can pull out all the stops when he wants to as well on the more upbeat numbers like the infectious "Here Comes His Grace Again" or "Let's Put God Back In America Again."

The biggest complaint one could have with A New Beginning is its real lack of upbeat numbers. Repeated listens of this recording make the album feel extremely slow and dragging.

Current fans of Terry Terrell will more than likely eat this album up. A New Beginning is classic Terrell - slow, moving ballads with a country edge.

Song List:

1. The Loneliest Times
2. Here Comes His Grace Again
3. Nail Scarred Hands
4. The Missing Peace
5. Let's Put God Back In America Again
6. Mother's Day
7. Covered In the Blood
8. Knowing There Is a Heaven
9. When Jesus Comes Into Our Town
10. What a Memory

revpaul's avatar Concerning your opening sentence, I think it's only fair to note that Terry went through an extended period of health problems which came upon him, unfortunately, just as he was beginning to really make it. During the past year or so, he is back to a full schedule and I'm looking forward to seeing him soon.

When he did his "live" album a few years ago in Owensboro, I was in the audience of several hundred and he just flat blew us away.

CRABBFANALWAYS's avatar I agree with RevPaul. Terry has been through some tough times the last couple of years, He had back surgery about 2 years ago. But he was in pain for about 2 years before having his surgery. But the special part was that God was always with him. And he healed him. He is back singing better than ever. PRAISE THE LORD! Always remember never judge a person till you have walked in their shoes. Terry Joe Terrell is by far the best baritone voice in Gospel Music or any music for that matter. We Love you Terry Joe.

revpaul's avatar Joey, I'm not sure what you mean when you say "hurts me to hear some one talk about". The CD Review itself is very positive, my comments were positive and Crabbyfan was also positive. As a matter of fact, we're all big fans of Terry Terrell. Perhaps you misunderstood us.

I seen Terry Terrell in Glenmora,La. at the UNITED PENTENCOSTAL CHURCH. It was my first to hear him sing. What a wonderful singing he is the best. You can tell that he sings from the heart and that GOD IS WITH HIM WHILE HE SINGING. I sat on the front row and loved every minute of his singing. I cried the whole time he sang IF THERE'S A PHONE IN HEAVEN which I was thinking of my mother that passed on Feb.18th 2006.I ask the lady that was selling his cds which one was the best she pointed to BACK ON MY FEET, I bought it and two ladies said behind me their all good, I cannot wait till I hear him sing in person again.I wish I had the money I would buy every one he makes. I HAD ELVIS ULTIMATE GOSPEL CD IN MY CAR HE GOT BOOTED OUT NOW TERRY TERRELL'S BACK ON MY FEET PLAYS ON MY JOURNEYS.

My parents Buddy and Faye...never,I mean never, miss Terry when he is within a 3 hour drive..they absolutely love him, not only because of his music, but Terrry himself. I went with my parents last saturday night to her Terry in Raleigh,Ms...I had a great time...I meet his daughter and she gave us the privilege of holding that precious grandbaby,,,my dad and I both agreed that we felt we were in the presents of an angel... just being that close to a miracle of Gods you could feel his presents,,I would like to thank Terry for asking Chris(12yr)to sing with him on stage Saturday night. TERRY JO TERRELL IS CHRIS'S ROLE MODEL,,, and also; for the special attention Terry has given Chris,,Chris wasn't delt an easy life,,,,seeking for love and attention he fell in with me and my family....we love him...Terry you will never know what an impact you have had on that little boy, JUST BY BEING YOU......Chris and I will see you and your family Saturday night in Pearl...
