
Nashville- Cleveland local based group, Tennessee Harmony brought the Tennessee General Assembly to their feet during a performance in the Chamber of the House of Representatives. Rep. Eric Watson and the General Assembly passed House Joint Resolution 375 to honor Tennessee Harmony for being named 2008 Quartet of the Year.
"It was an honor to have Tennessee Harmony perform before the General Assembly, I have watched these men over the years and I know the hearts of these young men", said Rep. Watson " The Lord has blessed them with many great talents and I'm proud to call them my friends".
HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 375 states the following,
A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Tennessee Harmony on being named 2008 Quartet of the Year. WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly are proud to formally recognize those talented musicians whose influence on and participation in a genre of music is of great import and whose talent has set them apart as the finest of American artists; and
WHEREAS, one such estimable group of musicians is Tennessee Harmony; on June 7, 2008, the group was named 2008 Quartet of the Year at the Gospel Music Tour Convention; and WHEREAS, since the group’s conception seventeen years ago, Tennessee Harmony has seen musicians come and go, but their Christian message has remained the same; current members include lead Rocky Chavis, baritone Tom Castello, tenor Blair Cantrell, and bass John Nix; and
WHEREAS, the group has toured across the Southeast and enjoyed a number of Top Eighty tunes throughout their years of performing and recording; their hit “Love One Another,” written by Rocky Chavis, reached number seventeen on the national Christian Voice Top One Hundred for October 2008; and in its first month of release, their latest hit single “Not Another Day” began at number seventy-seven on the Christian Voice Top One Hundred for May 2009; and
WHEREAS, this talented yet humble group of musicians has received much assistance in their recent efforts from David Livingston and the staff of LO Records, and Tennessee Harmony never fails to give thanks and credit to their fans and supporters; and
WHEREAS, the heart of Tennessee Harmony is their genuine desire to sing with inspiration, share with compassion, and serve as examples of true witness for Christ; and Tennessee Harmony is a group of Tennesseans of whom all the people of this State can be proud, and the group should be recognized as a legend of gospel music, one that has helped shape the musical genre while entertaining countless fans; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and congratulate Tennessee Harmony on being named 2008 Quartet of the Year and wish them much continued success in the future.

What a wonderful honor to be recognized by the General Assembly for being named GMTC 2008 Quartet of the Year", said group member Tom Castello "Our heartfelt thanks to group founder Tennessee State Representative Eric Watson for making this all possible. Eric formed this group in 1992 and even though he stepped down several years ago to work in state office, his vision for ministry still lives on in us. Most of all we are humbled that the Lord Jesus Christ would allow us to minister his gospel through song and though we seem the last, Lord send us". concluded Castello.
