Southern Gospel soloists sometimes have difficulty establishing themselves in a world dominated by trios, quartets, and family groups. Unless they have something notable to offer, they are often overlooked.
Tara Jackson shouldn't have too much to worry about, though.
With a powerful alto voice and strong original material, Jackson's self-titled debut project establishes her as an artist to be reckoned with. It appears that no expense has been spared with the project either; the credits include many of the top studio musicians in the industry (as well as several familiar names singing backup), and the package looks as good (if not better) than most label releases today. The mix and production quality is also very strong.
As for the music, Jackson works with Phil White as producer and turns out 10 solid tracks that showcase her vocal abilities well. The styles tend to lean more toward a "middle of the road" feel, especially with a cover of the Nicole C. Mullen hit, "Redeemer," but they never stray too far. Stand out tracks include "Wonder Working Power" (which includes excerps from "Power In The Blood" for good measure), an acoustic-backed "He Knows My Name," and a cover of the P&W standard, "In Christ Alone (My Hope Is Found)."
The only real complaint would be "Pray For America," which seems a bit out of place and stretched lyrically, and Jackson does struggle a bit on "Lift Up Your Eyes," pushing the limits of her range. Aside from those two tracks, she gives us a rather solid collection of songs, which is rare for an independent debut project from a soloist.
Tara Jackson has quite the voice, full of power and strength, and this self-titled project showcases it nicely. If she continues to turn out albums like this, she'll have a nice future in gospel music.

This is one awesome lady and has a voice to match....her rendition of"He Knows My Name" makes you want to answer The One that calls you.......
I have also had the opportunity to hear her music as well. The girl has got some serious pipes on her! Personally, I'm not a huge fan of patriotic song in general(no offense) but Tara's is one that I actually like!
