Legacy Five has sent out a special note about Frank Seamans Jr, son of tenor singer Frank Seamans.
Memorial Day Celebration 2009 is upon us. We're very excited about this year's event... it's gonna be great! I certainly don't want to dampen the spirits for this weekend, but I have some discouraging news about my son's battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma.
As you know, we have recently been very excited to report that Frank Jr. was doing very well... the cancer seemed to have surrendered to the chemotherapy treatment and his prognosis was very good.
This afternoon, we went to Frank Jr.'s doctor appointment... this was supposed to be a simple consultation with the radiologist to prepare for radiation next week... just a preventive measure... to be sure the Hodgkins Lymphoma was banished forever.
When we walked in, we were asked to come to the oncologist's office instead of meeting with the radiologist. He reluctantly broke the news that Frank Jr. has relapsed... the lymphoma has aggressively started growing again. Even though his midtreatment PET Scan showed that the cancer was all but gone, in just a few weeks, the lymph nodes were once again glowing with activity. The next step is a stem cell transplant with a much more aggressive chemotherapy treatment.
I must admit our cheer has been dampened by the reality of what we're now facing... but I still find myself feeling very grateful. I'm overwhelmed with thankfulness when I consider the relationship we have with a wonderful God that has been with us from the start. I simply don't know how people face something like this without faith in a loving and merciful God.
But then there's you... the wonderful folks that support Gospel Music and Legacy Five... all my precious friends who have lifted up prayers for Frank Jr. and sent words of encouragement. We have been so blessed to receive the outpouring of love from all of you. May God open the Windows of Heaven to you for your demonstration of generosity and compassion.
We know He is still in control. We have simply placed all our trust in His Able Hands... and today's news does not change that in any way. It may be a moment of uncertainty about what tomorrow holds, but it doesn't diminish the fact that we know the One Who Holds Tomorrow. We rest in His Peace and we covet your prayers as we go forward.
God bless...
Frank Seamans
