In 1996 Kathy Fogarty co-founded and performed on the Mansfield Music Mill, a country and gospel show, in Mansfield, Texas. It was this gospel show that would open the doors to the beginning of Southern Charm, a dynamic ladies trio with a sound comparable to the Andrew Sisters of old. Neither Kathy, nor future group members, Karen Dominey and Diane Slick, knew that shortly they would be performing as a group, much less traveling together.
Karen had a desire to sing with a group but didnt know where to start. She already had a song picked out. After hearing Kathy and Diane each perform on Kathys gospel show, Karen decided to ask the ladies if they would help her perform a song that had been on her heart. They met and cuddled around the karaoke machine on Karen's bedroom floor and started singing "In The Presence Of Jehovah". At that moment the paths of their lives crossed forever and a change had to happen. From that very moment, huddled around a karaoke machine, three ladies began what would later be known as the ministry of Southern Charm. Knowing only three songs at first, Southern Charm went on to sing for more venues per promoters and pastors request, learning a good 12-14 songs in only 14 weeks.
This exciting new ministry came to a halt about a year ago. Dianes mother became sick, having to have 5 bypass surgeries. Diane felt a burden to leave and move to Iowa to help take care of her mother. Kathy explained, When Diane left it was such a hardship for us. Our hearts were tearing. Nobody could replace Dianethere is no way. Southern Charm is Kathy, Karen, and Diane. And it was official. The three agreed that they would retire the name Southern Charm and move on to whatever else God had planned for their lives.
Little did these sweet ladies know that God was only giving them a small break. Dianes mother knew the importance of what she and the rest of Southern Charm were doing. After regaining strength to the best of her ability, Dianes mother released her to go back to Southern Charm. March 23rd was the first concert back as Southern Charm, and these girls could not be happier. During the year off, we sang every now and then, but this time off has given us all individual growth. It has made this experience so much sweeter and allowed the bond we share to become thicker, states Kathy.
Though their sound is reminiscent to The Andrew Sisters, they bring much more to the table than that. Southern Charm is very much ministry oriented and they firmly believe that the altar is where the important stuff happens. Not only will these ladies charm your socks off, (their name perfectly describes them) they will touch her heart in a way youve not imagined.

The ladies of Southern Charm are some of the nicest in the industry.
I couldn't agree more with Amy about Southern Charm. If you haven't heard them, you owe it to your self to call a station & request a song. Once you know them, you'll look forward to that hug!
If you get a chance, see and hear these ladies. They are fantastic.
To all of the lady's of southern charm. I'm so glad to her about you ladies singing again. I hope to see you at the NQC this year. God bless you!
