Roy Knight Singers – Greener Pastures

Producer: Jeff Collins
Label: Crossroads Music
Website: www.royknightsingers.com

I have long been a big Sandy Knight fan as well as her group, the Roy Knight Singers. Though you don't find the group itself in the charts often, their music has always been captivating to me and I have always loved the campmeeting feel in their music. Those that are fans of the Roy Knight Singers will find no surprises here, as they continue making the great music that are known for.

The strong beat of “TAKING IT BACK” has a good Pentecostal feel to it and is probably my favorite song on the whole recording. I'd love to see an exciting mixed group get a hold of this song, say like the Hoskins Family. Angie would tear it up!
Sandy Knight has always had a knack for writing unique novelty songs, and “GOSSIP THE GOSPEL” ranks as one her best with this type of song. There's a lot to be learned from this song. “SEEKING SHELTER” is another unique song with its varying tempos between verses and chorus and is definitely not the average song, musically. But I like the idea behind the tempos…verses are fast, representing life and it's hurried pace, while the chorus is calming and soothing, sheltering us from those times of storm. Great concept.

Rodney Birch is featured on the upbeat song, “HIT THE GROUND RUNNING” before he and Tracie tear into a breathtaking duet on the title song, “GREENER PASTURES”. Tracie and Rodney really should consider doing an album together, as they sound absolutely wonderful on their duets.

So many people wait until they've used all other options before going to the Lord in prayer over a situation, but Sandy Knight declares in song that “THE VERY FIRST THING” she will do is pray. With a hint of blues, the song offers some very good advice.

I love the steel guitar intro on the country tinged “THE LOVE OF GOD FOREVER SHALL REMAIN” which features Sandy. Recently recorded by the Kingsmen, Sandy and crew do a great job on this song before moving on to the thought provoking “TAKING ISAAC UP THE MOUNTAIN” which takes the story of Abraham and Isaac and makes it applicable to our own lives.

Other songs on this recording include the medium tempo “ALMIGHTY MOVE” as well as the upbeat, “HAVE A NICE DAY”.

I love the cover art on this recording. I like artists who have their picture on the cover, but this concept cover matches perfectly with the title, and I love it. While you see Sandy Knight's name pinned to several well-known songs by several well-known artists, if you've never experienced the music of this great family, it's time to introduce yourself to the Roy Knight Singers.

I have been a fan of the Roy Knight Singers since I was a child! I have always loved their music. I love Sandy's writing but I love her voice even more!

I became a dj when I was 14 years old and I began working for a small AM station. The first record I ever played was the song, "Overshadowed By The Blood" by the RKS. From that moment I was hooked!

I pray that God continues to bless you and your family Sandy!
