Randy Travis Wins “Song of the Year” for “Three Wooden Crosses” at the 2004 Academy of Country Music

Most recent honor follows string of awards and achievements for #1 song

Randy Travis' "Three Wooden Crosses" won "Song of the Year" honors on Wednesday, May 26 at the 39th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards (ACMs), which were held at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Travis and songwriters Doug Johnson and Kim Williams accepted the award during the live broadcast on CBS. The song also was nominated for "Single Record of the Year."

This is the latest honor for the No. 1 country radio hit by Travis, which is from his Word Records project, Rise and Shine. The song was named Country Recorded Song of the Year at GMA's 35th Annual Music Awards on April 28. It also received "Song of the Year" honors at the 37th Annual Country Music Association (CMA) awards show as well as from the Christian Country Music Association and The Nashville Songwriters Association this past November.

In February, Travis picked up his fourth GRAMMY Award for Rise and Shine which won for "Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album." Travis' albums also have been the recipient of the past two Dove Awards for Country Album of the Year - Rise and Shine in 2003 and Worship and Faith this year.

In addition to accepting an award, Travis also presented the "Academy of Country Music/Home Depot Humanitarian Award" to recipient Martina McBride.
