“Pauline “Mom” Lewis, Age 92, Is Rejoicing in Heaven”

imageHENDERSONVILLE, Tenn.--February 8, 2003 Gospel Music and the Daywind Music Group family celebrate the life and mourn the loss of Pauline "Mom" Lewis. She passed away around 7:00am Saturday morning, while at her home in Lincolnton, GA. Mom was born one of 13 children to Rev. Paul and Blanche Holloway. When she was 15 years old, Roy "Pop" Lewis climbed to the second story of her parent's house and swept her away and the rest is history. They had eight children: Miggie, Wallace, Esley, Mosley (who died at age 4 in September 1935), Talmadge, Polly, Janis and Little Roy. "Mom" hailed from a musical family. She taught Wallace to play the guitar when he was only a child. Although "Mom" could rarely be found on stage with the Lewis Family, she traveled millions of miles with the family, and for years helped at the product table. Mom was born June 20, 1910, and she and Pop were married October 25, 1925.

In May 2002, "Mom" Lewis was presented the "Miss Ina" award given to a spouse of a Southern gospel performer who has demonstrated the kind of loyalty and support that made their musical contribution possible by the Southern Gospel Music Association.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lewis Family Pavilion Fund. Cards of sympathy may be sent to:
