The Patriot Quartet is not a household name, but by listening to this CD you can see that they could be. You will hear some great harmony, and if you like those old time quartet singings, then you are going to love this CD as it has a nice blend of songs, bringing back some great old classics.
This CD opens with the nice up-beat song “My God.” Another up-beat song is “I Wanna Hear It Again” which features the Bass voice of Darrell Gabhart. Quartet lovers will really like the resonance of his voice.
One of my favorite songs on the CD is the remake of the old Downings song, “Great Day.” They do the song justice with a lot of energy. Another good old song that they redid very well is Leroy Abernathy's “Wonderful Time Up There.” Lead singer Joe White does a nice job covering the Jake Hess tune that was penned by Daryl Williams, “I Got Blessed.”
The only real complaint that I have with this CD is that the Patriot Quartet are too good to be singing so many “cover” songs. They need to branch out and select some new and original material. They have the talent to put “their own sound” on some original songs.
Other songs include “There'll Be No Disappointments In Heaven,“ "I'm Trusting You," “Just A Matter Of Time,” “When My Feet Touch The Streets Of Gold," "The Lighthouse,” and “When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder.”

The Patriot Qt. get better with every project. I loved "There'll be no dissapointments in Heaven."
Well Deon, We thank you for your review and comments. I somewhat disagree about the older "cover" songs. We love them old songs, and you just don't get to here them much anymore. I thought Eddie Crook did a super job with the production and you're right, the harmony is good!! We had original material on the previous projects and I am sure there will be several on our next project. You must agree that if you want to here some "Good Ole Southern Gospel" this CD is the one to listen to.
Thanks for the review of the Patriot Quartet. I'm Darrell's wife. All the guys in the quartet are committed to singing Southern Gospel music. They have recorded quite a few great original songs written by members Joe White and David Combs, but none on this particular project. Maybe next time. Still the songs on this project have the gospel message they want to present and seem to fit their style and voices. One of the best things about the Patriot Quartet is that they sound just as good in concert as they do on their project. (And I hear them a lot, but never too much.) Ann
The Patriot Quartet is excellent. We were privileged to have them in our church this past Sunday and I was certainly blessed by their great sound. This was my first time to hear them, but I'm sure it won't be the last. This group has it all; great bass singer, melodic blend that is rare, old fashioned quartet sound and an excellent selection of music on this new project. This group will be at the top of their class in southern gospel music.I thought they did "The Lighthouse" especially well, a great old song rejuvenated by their wonderful voices.
The Patriot Quartet's newest CD "Great Day" is full of beautifully renditioned old Southern gospel songs. "My God" is truly a worship experience. "Great Great Day" and other songs on the CD are wonderful reminders of what is in store for believers in Christ. "Just A Matter of Time" is lively and uplifting. All of these songs are performed with the truly exceptional talents of each member of the quartet. And "The Lighthouse" is the very best version I've ever heard. This is a great CD!
You don't want to miss any new CD project that the Patriot Quartet puts out. This newest CD is a collection of "old songs" but this group will ruin you for the same song put out before by anyone else. The Patriot Quartet has a wonderful sound and the title song (Great Great Day) on this album, as well as "The Lighthouse" and other selections grow on you each time you hear them. Don't miss this Patriot Quartet CD.
The Patriot Quartet is a group of guys that genuinely love God, love each other as brothers, and love spreading God’s Gospel in song. People who love Southern Gospel Music can’t miss by listening to this CD! I agree that we need to hear more original songs. This quartet is blessed by having two songwriters in the group, Joe White and David Combs. Joe and I go back a long way. I always knew he could sing, but I never knew of his songwriting talents. From earlier projects Joe’s “I Wanna Sing” and “In The Path Of The Lion” MUST be heard by Gospel Music fans everywhere! Joe’s “There Stands Jesus” and David’s “He Arose” also showcase the group’s harmony and versatility singing different styles. The Patriots are a quartet on the move. Joe, David, Jerry, and Darrell, God bless and keep on singing!
I really love the Patriot Quartet. They are a group of men that love serving their Lord. I truly enjoy listening to them and I especially love their new CD "Great Day". I love the old songs and believe this group does them better than any other version I have heard. I believe these men love God and love serving Him. May God contunie to bless them.
The PATRIOT QUARTET is a wonderfull group to
We hosted the Patriot Quartet for our Memorial Day Weekend singing on Sunday May 29 at Saloma Baptist Church near Campbellsville. They were very good. We will have them back again in the future. They presented great music and exemplified a truly warm Christian spirit.
After a lot of hard work sweat and tears that I can personally avow to,I can truthfully say the Patriot quartet have arrived !! I was amazed at the improvement in thier sound on the new project Great Day. Being reared in Southern Gospel Quartet singing I really appreciate the song selection on this CD, the harmony and quality of their voices make this a hit in my book....
I've had the pleasure of watching them perform several times and I must say The Patriot Quartet is one of the finest groups I've seen. They have such a passion for Christ and they present the word of God through song in a powerful way! I can't wait to see what God is going to do next through this up and coming quartet. Best of Luck Guys!!
Summing up The Patriot Quartet's new CD in one word--WOW!! All of their CD's in the past have been really enjoyable to listen to and sing along with, but I would be hard pressed to pick out just one song on this CD that doesn't strike a cord in my heart. All of the member's talents are showcased in various tracks of the CD.Their voices blend so well and sound as if they have been singing together all of their lives. The song writing gifts of the individual members have been displayed in the past and I can't wait to hear more new music in the future. I do love to hear their versions of the old hymns, also. They really bring them to life. Anyone wanting to hear GREAT gospel music should make it a point to hear these men sing. I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed!
The Patriot Quartet is one of the premier groups in Southern Gospel Music today. The way the Gospel is presented in song truly reaches out to the lost. I look forward to having them to sing in our church again soon!
dear patriot quartet:
I must say that I have other CD's that the Patriot Quartet have done, all of which are great. This one in my opinion is one of the best. Ever time you hear it lifts your spirits. This is a feel good CD by men who love to sing and love the Lord. I will give the guys *****!
Deon this group is much more than cover songs.I would have to say this project is like home made vanilla ice cream.Like everyones uncle used to make. Its good. And you will go back for A second helping.
