Master's Voice has slowly but surely made a name for themselves over the past few years with their undeniable energy on stage. The group recently made a few changes and released the highly anticipated By Request album last fall.
Q & A with Master's Voice
Master's Voice had a big year in 2004 both professionally and personally. Fill everyone in on what has happened with the group!
The biggest news is that Master's Voice went from having five members, to four, and now down to the three of us left. We love it. So far, John Tidwell has gotten married, which was a huge miracle, and now Mark Ledbetter and his wife, Autumn, are having a child. It's been a busy year. Also notable is that for the second year in a row, we have sang over 115 times. We also hired a booking agent - Eastern Sky Promotions - Seth and Melissa Carney.
What's next up to bat for Masters Voice? In other words, what do you see in the immediate future for Masters Voice?
In the immediate future, well, we are waiting on the Lord. We would love for Him to allow us to do this full-time, but patience is the "key." We aspire to break the 140 mark for bookings this year. We are praying about exactly who to go to for our next album, so we are excited about that. We are, once again, gathering songs. Hopefully, by May, we will have something new.
Tell us about your new project. What made you decide to do old standards? How did you decide which songs to record?
Our newest project By Request was a blast! You can't go wrong making a project with everyone else's best songs, ha! Honestly, we kept a mental tab on requests that people had made throughout the years. Some specific requests that we remembered were the requests for "At The Cross," "House of Gold," and " Glory Road ." Some of the songs were more of a tribute to the groups and/or performers that we respect. We already have ideas of By Request...again , as many have come up to us and expressed their disapproval because we did not put the song they requested on the album.
What are the long term plans for Masters Voice. What's the future hold for Masters Voice?
We, once again, are praying about that. It is such a miracle to find a group of guys who share the same passions, interests, and specific callings. I am sure that we are open to whatever God has in store. We are praying that He continues to open doors, and close some as well. I know that is about as vague an answer as you can get, but our heads are still spinning due to all the transitions we made this year. I wish we could sing all day every day. Does the Lord have that for us? Pray for us that we are sensitive enough, and patient enough to wait on the Lord.....bold enough to take the initiative and walk through doors, and the discernment to know the difference.
Be sure and mark your calendars now for the 6 th Annual SGN Fan Festival. Master's Voice will be performing on Saturday night, July 30, 2005!

Wow, what a month. God does not always allow us to see the fruits of our ministry, so when He decides to do that, and we see a harvest, it is very special. Whether it be in a concert setting, or a revival, we are just enamored to be able to be used to tell people about the saving power of Christ. I do wish, however, that the people who are there who get to witness a person be delivered from one realm to another and being introduced to Jesus and His saving grace would react with a little more zeal. I mean, we can all go nuts when our team wins the NCAA, or the World Series, so how much more amazing is it when one person actually gets saved? Something that causes all of Heaven to pause and rejoice should certainly merit more than an "amen" and an attitude of "well, good she/he needed that."
God has been very busy (as if isn't always) in Master's Voice the past six months. So far, we have seen Ricky Knight resign and his wife get pregnant. We have seen Mike and his lovely wife Lori have a beautiful baby girl. We have been thrilled to announce that John Tidwell has persuaded Jessica to marry him. That was followed up by Mike and Lori announcing...(cough)....once again, that they are pregnant......again! All of this, while we are working on our newest CD. Well, the latest chapter also concerns Mikal. He shocked all of us with a very emotional announcement telling us that God has called him to preach. He will sing his last time with Master's Voice at the end of April.
The Lord has been dealing with him for a long time, and this is really the desire of his heart, though this decision came at quite a price. He really loves singing and traveling and spending time with us guys, but we all respect him even more now because he has the obedience to follow God's hand even when it meant giving up something he loves. We love him, and though we know he is right in the middle of God's perfect will, he will be greatly missed. Please pray for him and for us as we transition through this change.
Naturally, some of the questions that are expected is "are we gonna get another bass?" Well, for now, we are very content with being a trio. We love the bass and what it brings to our sound, but we really feel like the right thing is to be a trio for a while. Once again, I am truly in awe that the God of all creation, who spoke this whole thing into existence, is that interested in us and the ministry he has given us. Where would I be without Jesus?

Knowing you boys as I do, I know you are seeking God's will and leadership in carrying on with the Word.
Just wanted you to know we are praying for you and love you very much and Dad keeps on whistling.
You guys are awesome! I have now had the pleasure to see ya'll three times (twice in one weekend) and it never gets old. It is truly obvious that God is working through this ministry. I cannot wait for the new cd.
Thank you Shawna! We are thrilled that people like to hear and watch us sing, because we love it so so much! We would sing even if nobody wanted to hear us, so it is truly a blessing that you along with many others support us and pray for us. About the cd- it's close gang....really close. God Bless!
I wondered how long it would be before Mike got "the call"--we talked about that possibility...
Just wanted to let you know that I DO keep up with you guys! Love you all dearly - Jes

Continuing to pray for your ministry and for Mikal as he pursues God's will for his life once again.
Jes- Thanks for keeping up. I had my doubts but now they are settled.
Erica- sorry I missed your question the first time. We will still be a quartet at the Homecoming.
Mark - I can't believe that you doubted me!
Thanks everyone for your prayers, emails and comments. My heart is growing heavy as my time singing with Master's Voice is drawing to a close. I will truly miss singing with them. These are some of the best singers out there, but more than that they make sure the ministry comes before everything else. These men are real and live what they sing. It has been a pleasure singing with my best friends for the last nine years. Thank You Lord! I will also miss meeting and talking with all of you that attend our concerts. I have gained some great friends from it all. I really am encouraged through you all as you share your testimonies with us. You all have been a big part of my life for the last 9 years. It has been a cherished time, a forming time, and a fun time. I look forward to God's leading as He takes me down a new pathway. God Bless all of you and God Bless Master's Voice as they continue to share the voice of the Master.
Mike, have you been singing with someone on the side beside us? who are these great singers you mentioned? just kidding. In all seriousness, the man who is resigning MV is one of the Godliest men I will ever encounter. Mike, thanks for teaching me how to love people more.
WoooHoooo!
