LuLu Roman - There’s A New Kid In Town

Producer: Marty Funderburk Engineered and mixed by: Anthony Johnson
Website: http://www.luluroman.net

Coming out of the entertainment industry Lulu has a little different idea of what a Christmas CD should be, and I like it.
While many Gospel artists try to make Christmas CDs very heavy and spiritual, I like what Lulu has done. She has kept the feel of the whole project light and airy, very festive. Easter is a time for meaty heavy songs, but Christmas is a time of celebration, and Lulu fills that notion to a tee.

Lulu starts off with three Christmas classics. Sliver Bells, Sweet Little Jesus Boy, and Away In A Manger. he preforms all three with the gaiety of the season. She then switches gears into a country mode with the banjos, fiddles, and guitars as she sings Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem as as well as I have ever heard it sang.

After Lulu has you all wound up in the traditional Christmas songs she slips into the the modern day mode and presents the liberating message of how God came in our world. Welcome To Our World may be my favorite song on the recording. As much as I like this song, There's New Kid In Town tells the old Christmas story in a new light. I really like this one too.

What Christmas recording would be complete without Silent Night, white Christmas, and Most Wonderful Time Of The Year.
Again, Lulu keeps that festive feel as she performs these standards.

Lulu does something on this recording that sets it apart from other CDs. After getting you all in the Christmas spirit with her wonderful singing, she recites the Christmas story straight from the Bible. What a nice ending to a completely enjoyable recording.

LuLu has outdone herself with this her first Christmas CD. We are proud to represent her. When she began choosing songs she simply said "Let's give 'em something to make their Christmas brighter." And that is what she did. I personally love this CD.
