Ok, I’ll admit it…I like my share of quartet music. If you like the all male quartet sound, you are going to love this CD. These boys have a terrific sound as well as a beautiful blend. Producer Garry Jones shows his extraordinary talent in the vocal arrangements of this CD. With writers such as John Rowsey, Daryl Williams, Belinda Smith, Steve Lacey, Dianne Wilkinson, and Terry & Barbi Franklin there’s no way one can complain about the song selection.
Beginning the CD with the slow hymn, “He Hideth My Soul” these boys give all they got. I’ve heard tight harmonies before, but this blew me away. “Fighting on My Knees” is a wonderfully orchestrated song which the boys are able to show off their abilities. “I’m Glad I Know” is a good ole quartet song, reminding me of the Cathedral’s in their “Can He, Could He, Would He” days, and this group really pulls it off. “Jesus Touched Me”, a story bout a sick man who heard of Jesus healing power, is a touching song and sung superbly.
The blend and style I’m hearing from this group is really similar to Cathedrals and Gold City about 10-15 years back. This group really seems as though they enjoy this music they sing. I think I would dare to put them up against any quartet and they’d come out shining.
My Picks: “This Well Travels”, “Fighting On My Knees”, “I’m Glad I Know”, “I’ve Crossed This Valley Before”, and “Mercy Came Down”
