Meridian, Idaho based Liberty Quartet has released their latest project, The Journey. This cd is filled with a great variety of styles musically. The list of writers includes Rodney Griffin, Phil Cross, Twila Labar, Joel Lindsey and former group member, Doran Ritchey. They have selected songs that fit their voices quite well. You can tell they know how to sing very well.
It opens with the title cut, The Journey which is one of the more traditional songs on the project and is followed up by a remake of a the Gaither classic, He Came Down to My Level. Till There Was Jesus they make a jazzy ballad that has really beautiful intricate harmonies. He Came to Me is a more progressive song that is the only one to really feature Keith Waggoner and he does the song very well. Too Long is a great classic fun feel to a brand new song. In the Day of the Lord showcases the group’s excellent ability to blend on unison lines and allows Jordan to really showcase his great voice.
Overall, I thought this was an excellent project. If you are at all unfamiliar with Liberty Quartet, take the opportunity to cut your teeth on this project. You won’t be disappointed.
