Jonathan White - Living the Good Life

Producer:  Wesley Pritchard/Milton Smith
Label:  Independent Release
Website:  www.jonathanwhitemusic.com

Jonathan White is a phenomenal vocal talent and I remain in awe at the talent this gentleman has.  As one of the few natural tenors that Southern Gospel Music has, Jonathan is one of Southern Gospe's best-kept secrets and I am just waiting for the rest of the industry to find out what I already know.  I wouldn’t call Jonathan’s style straight forward Southern Gospel, as he leans more into the progressive/inspirational, but he most definitely would appeal to just about any fan of Southern Gospel Music.

The big band, funk sound of "NO PLACE I’D RATHER BE" starts things out and quickly moves to the emotionally tender song about simple faith entitled, "JESUS MAKE THE SUN SHINE TODAY", which features a performance by Jonathan White’s son, Austin, followed by Jonathan’s own rendition of the Isaacs’ former hit, "HEROES".

The disco overtones of the upbeat "THIS I KNOW", penned by songwriting duo Sheldon Wade Mencer and Steven Cheney, makes for an enjoyable tune, while the novelty tune, "GHOST MEMBERS ON THE SLY" (done cleverly to the tune of "Ghost Riders in the Sky") is definitely a highlight of the recording.

Originally recorded years ago (mid 1980’s) by CCM group NewSong, Jonathan renders his rendition of "OUT OF THE GRAVE" before turning in an exceptional performance on the song "IT’S RAINING AGAIN".

Jonathan is joined by Lauren Cheney on the song, "I AM GOD" formerly recorded by Ivan Parker and this moment makes for one of the true highlights of the recording as Jonathan and Lauren turn in a masterful performance.

Written by Steven Cheney, Jonathan turns in a heartfelt performance on the tender, "THANK YOU MOM" before moving on the high energy, fun tune, "HE’LL BE".

Rendering a rendition similar to Michael English’s version from the late 1990s, Jonathan belts out "MIDNIGHT CRY" before joining forces with the sensational vocal group, Valor on the title song, "LIVING THE GOOD LIFE".

Churning out another NewSong classic, Jonathan sings, "LIGHT YOUR WORLD" before closing out the recording with the Gaither classic, "IT IS FINISHED" as the big finish!

As I said at the beginning, Jonathan is an amazing talent.  Those who have not afforded themselves the opportunity to hear him need to get this recording and introduce themselves to what they’re missing.  Filled with great songs, really cool music tracks and outstanding vocals all the way to the BGV’s; this is a really great recording.

Personal Favs: JESUS MAKE THE SUN SHINE TODAY; THIS I KNOW; GHOST MEMBERS ON THE SLY; IT’S RAINING AGAIN; I AM GOD; HE’LL BE
