Jerry Deewood sings with Sherrill “Shaun” Nielsen & Friends

Producer: Jerry Deewood and Sherrill Nielsen Engineered by: Doug Easley
Label: Recorded at - Kelly Road Studio, Memphis, TN
Website: http://home.scarlet.be/jerry_deewood/

It is clear by listening to Jerry Deewood that he is a huge fan of the old Rock and Roll singers like Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. Strangely, those styles still fit closely to Southern Gospel today. Jerry is not only a fan of that style of music, but he is also a huge fan of Elvis Presley's featured Tenor singer and original Imperials Tenor Sherrill "Shaun" Nielsen. This is the second project that Jerry and Sherrill have worked on and their collaboration has been a big success in Europe. Jerry recently won the prestigious 2009 Special Music Award from the Belgian Artistic Promotion for not only his music in general, but also what he has accomplished in the U.S.A. music scene.

Opening the CD is "There's A Fire Below", a song written by Sherrill Nielsen and was to be the next song recorded by Elvis Presley just before he passed away. With Jerry's Elvis style singing you can close your eyes and almost hear what it would have sounded like if Elvis sang this song. It's a great cut and should do well on radio in Belgium. "Friends In High Places" composed by Nashville song writer D. Willis puts some spiritual thoughts in common everyday language. We have angels, loved ones who have gone before us, and the Son of God Himself looking down on us from on high. We truly have friends in high places.

Jerry puts his hand to writing on "I've Got The Blues". Close your eyes again and you'll swear that it is Jerry Lee Lewis playing the piano on this cut. The remaining five songs on the CD are written by Sherrill "Shaun" Nielsen including "There Ain't No Future", "Loving Heart", Freedom Demands",

"Where Stupid Demands", and Doing The Right Thing". The last two songs really got my attention. The song titles are rather blunt, but the messages are powerful. The whole phrase of the song is, "There's a thin line between fate and where stupid begins". The song is telling us that some people believe their lives are what they are because of fate, but if we believe and have faith we control our lives, not fate. I like the title and I like the song. "Doing The Right Thing" is yet another song with just everyday language. As Christians we have to daily try to do the right thing. The right thing doesn't just happen, we have to try to do the right thing.

I like the way that the messages of the songs are just everyday language like you and I would talk to each other. Remembering that this project is aimed at the European market, it's going to reach a lot of people.

I've heard you were performing with the
Legendary Stamps and ... Sherrill Nielsen
at the Casino Knokke (Belgium). They said

bought your CD and it's really very
    good indeed.
