Without a doubt, one of the greatest family groups to grace a gospel music stage during the 70s and 80s were the Hemphills. Few groups could boast the down to earth feel and Pentecostal excitement the Hemphills generated. It’s wonderful to see someone pay such a passionate tribute to their legacy. Few people could pull off what Jerry Bennett did and do it so beautifully.
Jerry went back and pulled some long forgotten tunes likes “The Ballad of the Watchman”, “Sometimes I Wonder”, “Let me Feel Your Spirit Once Again” and “Lord Show me Your Hands” as well as some of the more celebrated tunes like “Sing the Glory Down”, “I’ll Soon be Gone”, “Ready to Leave”, “Pity the Man”, “Let’s Have a Revivial” and “Unfinished Task”. Also included is a brand new Hemphill song, “Praise Him for Being my God.”
There are a couple of other things that really set this recording apart from other tributes…Joel and LaBreeska along with their son Joey, join Jerry and are featured throughout the recording, and they also share special moments from life on the road and stories behind the songs. Also sporatically placed throughout the recording are specially recorded tributes from Paul Heil, Bill Gaither, Ronnie Hinson, Laverne Tripp, Tim & Dixie McKeithen as well as from Jerry himself.
This recording isn’t so much a tribute to the Hemphills as a group, but moreso a tribute to Joel and LaBreeska. Jerry went the extra mile to give this recording that disctintive Hemphill sound, and fans of the Hemphills will find plenty to enjoy with this recording. If you weren’t around to enjoy the sounds of the Hemphills, or you’ve discovered them recently, this is an excellent recording to paying homage to one of the most memorable family groups in Southern Gospel Music.

This is one of the very best, if not the Best, country gospel CD's I have ever hear! Jerry has done an outstanding job on this project. The songs are great and the singing is AWESOME! Jerry, keep up the good work.
Jerry has once again put together an outstanding album. Jerry always insists on having some of the best pickers in Nashville on his projects and you can hear that in this album! You have the old Hemphill songs with a new twist of a little more country added in. You won't be disappointed.....
