Our work day had finally come to an end, and our appointment to meet with Janet Paschal had finally come. This was going to be very exciting. We weren’t just meeting Janet for an interview; we were sitting in on part of her new recording session. She was only working on one song, so it wasn’t to take very long, but we were up for it, even if it took all night.
After a few casual introductions, we, Susan, Amy and myself, just sat back and watched a real artist at work. She had already run through the song a time or two, but we were treated to the whole song. I thought that the song sounded terrific, but Janet heard some things that she just wasn’t happy with, so being the perfectionist that she is she worked till she had it just the way she wanted it.
Finally our interview started and we were able to sit down and talk one on one with Janet. She is just as nice and sweet as she is pretty and she made us feel instantly like old friends.
Janet shared with us how this new project was a chance for her to get back to her roots. Home Again is a reflection of her life as she grew up singing with her family. It reflects her bluegrass background. Janet is a versatile artist and can easily sing most any style. Home Again is a great reflection of who Janet is. The song that she worked on during the recording session was her first release from this project, titled, "Everything's Gonna Be All Right." You can listen to that cut here.
An interesting thing came out about Janet during our interview. While Janet has a wonderful sense of humor and loves to laugh, she is a terrible joke teller. We had a wonderful laugh as she attempted to remember a joke and repeat it to us. We couldn't decide which was funnier, the joke or Janet trying to tell it.
While Janet may never make it as a comedienne, she could make it as a writer. Having written one book already, "The Good Road," she did say that she has considered writing a second. If you have never read any of Janet's writings, you can visit her website, http://www.janetpaschal.com and read some of her newsletters.
During our interview Susan asked Janet about Miss Marple. Janet gets this huge grin on her face and starts telling Susan all about Miss Marple. I had to interrupt and ask how Susan knew Miss Marple. Janet, Amy and Susan looked at me like I was a dummy for not knowing who Miss Marple was, and then turned and continued discussing them. It turns out that Janet has a love affair with several trees in her yards. I also heard about Maggie, Blossom, the PauPaus, Mo and the Sentinals. Don’t forget Moe’s new girlfriend Ramona and her friend Miss Plum. They must have talked for fifteen minutes before I ever realized that they were talking about TREES. It would seem that this gifted singer is also an outdoor enthusiast.
It seems that Susan and Amy are both on Janet’s E-mail newsletter, and Janet loves to talk about her trees in her newsletter. You can join Janet and her tree musings by going to her website and joining her newsletter.
Janet’s success as a singer seems to transcend beyond genres. She is has been a favorite at the Gaither Homecoming gatherings, while her radio success in the Inspirational market has been overwhelming. Janet took some time off from touring to work more with Mission of Mercy, an international Christian relief organization. Her work with this organizationn took her to Calcutta, India, where she concluded, "You realize there's a whole world out there that God cares about."
If you get a chance to see or hear Janet Paschal, it will be well worth your effort and you will be blessed. Be sure to pick up a copy of her new project, Home Again as well.
After this interview we were saddened to learn that Janet has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She is in good spirits and feels, "abundantly rich in family, friends and faith," and she looks "forward to getting past this process." Janet covets the prayers of her fans and friends and we are praying earnestly for her healing and peace of mind.
God Bless you, Janet Paschal!

Janet: I am praying for God's touch on your body. You have been a favorite of mine since I first saw you when you first starting singing gospel music. Your ministry is such a blessing to me as I know it is to so many others. I have talked to you at Family Fest in Gatlinburg with the Gaithers and at other events also over the years and one thing has always stood out about you-that beautiful smile and the love of Christ that radiates from you. Love and prayers to you and John and all your family.

Janet:
Dear Janet,
Janet, you were so kind to write to my wayward dayghter who admired you and you encouraged her so much. I thank you for reaching out to her. That was nearly 10 years ago; and now, it is your turn to be encouraged. Please know of my prayers for you. Breast cancer is very prevalent in my family as well. As scarey as it is, whether in this life or in the life to come, God heals. Be blessed. Susan Brown
please send me a copy of ur song . I wanna be washed in the blood of the lamb
Janet, my wife and I are praying for you. We met you several years ago at New Life Assembly of God in Oak Grove Missouri. We were blessed to be a part of your ministry that night. You asked us to participate by acting while you sang a song. It was a great opportunity and we loved being a part of what God is doing through you. You are in our prayers and we look forward to the praise of your healing. The righteous has never been forsaken or his seed out begging for bread. your friends, JD and Toni Montgomery
I would like to know if Janet Pascal ever sang the song "Old Soldier Going Home"? I would love the music to that song. My mother would like that song to be sung for my fathers funeral....
I was sorry to hear about Janet's health problem but with God's help, this too will pass.
Dear Janet:
Please tell me if Janet Pascall has died. I have heard that she was killed in a car wreck some time ago. I hope this is not true. Thank you, Anne

I have been haunted by a song I heard Janet sing when I was 12, and she was travelling with a family singing in Western Tennessee. The song went something like "Jesus is my cornerstone, safe from ???? to attone, he has justified his own ??
