In the Midst of Sorrow

Hi everyone.

It's late at night, and tomorrow we will attend the celebration of the life of our friend Anthony Burger. It seems completely surreal, and unfair, that one only 44, so gifted, and a nice guy to be around left us so unexpectedly, but we have many memories of not only his music but meals shared with him and his family before a concert, him climbing on our bus just to hang out and talk, and his dry wit followed by that gravelly laugh (or his ferocious blinking of his eyes when he heard a bad note!). My dad, Roger, is honored to stand in for Anthony at the piano at his service tomorrow, and please be in prayer for everyone, especially the family, as they say goodbye.

We were not able to attend the funeral for another friend of ours, Doug Riley, but I'd also like to pay tribute to him and his family. Doug was a great guy who, like Anthony, never said too much, but played the drums excellently and had more friends than he probably ever realized. I remember the weekend before he died, we shared the stage with Gold City, and our sound engineer Greg and Doug sat together back at the house board sharing technical duties. Doug was talking and singing in my ear monitor trying to make me laugh on stage. He and Anthony may be up in heaven somewhere together, setting up a sound system!

Life has to go on even in unpleasant circumstances, and in the midst of all the ups and downs this month, we are hard at work on a new Talley Trio recording. This project will be available in June and features some incredible songs which I think are some of the strongest we've recorded. Can't wait for you to hear it.....

Tune in to TBN's "Praise The Lord" very soon and you'll see a familiar face. I'll be performing on "Praise The Lord" March 10, at 9:00 PM EST. I sang material from two of my solo projects to a most enthusiastic audience. Thank you to everyone at Trinity Music City for making me feel welcome. Circle the date on your calendar, and set your TiVo or VCR.

It's not too late to get your tickets for Singing In The Sun 2006! 5-6 of the top artists in gospel music will gather each night in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center on April 26-29, and The Talleys will be performing on Friday evening, April 28th. Throughout the event you'll also enjoy such artists as the Hoppers, the Greenes, Tony Gore, Signature Sound, the Perrys, the McKameys, and many others. You can see more information on http://www.rayflynnpromotions.com.

Hug your friends and family and tell them how much they're loved, while you still can.

Until next time,

Lauren Talley

Amen. I'm setting my Tivo. You all represent the best of what a Christian family should be.

Wouldn't you say it's about time for an encore performance by Jason on an upcoming Talley Trio album? smile
