As many radio hits as this family has had, it seems as though they have been around for a long time. Actually they have only been singing for about four years. Consisting of Rick, Reva, Angie and Jim, collectively known as the Hoskins Family, they started out singing in Reva's father's church where he was Pastoring. In fact this is the only place that they sang, and really had no plans of going any further. After her father's retirement, the Lord started changing their plans and their goals. It must have just been a God thing, because in four short years they have had hit after hit, and are now a household name in Southern Gospel Music. Rick and Reva are married. Angie Hoskins Aldridge is their daughter, and Jim Mahalick is cousin to the family and has always desired to be in the ministry full-time.
Reva said that the most "satisfying thing about singing Southern Gospel music is that the message of the songs, the words are so ministering to individuals no matter what the difficulty that people are going through." Jim added that there was "no feeling in the world like singing a Southern Gospel song and seeing that connection with the audience as the message is getting right to their needs."
The Hoskins Family is rather unique because they started off in this music thing as big fans of Southern Gospel music. If you ask them today they will tell you that they are still the biggest fans in SGM. I asked them what they listen to and they said that it is always Southern Gospel music. If you go to a concert where the Hoskins Family and other artists are singing, you will always find the Hoskins Family seated inside listening to the other groups, just because they are the biggest SGM fans.
While they love ministering to congregations, they also love the concert scene and singing with a lot of other groups. They feel that when they are ministering alone, they give all they have to those in the service, but when they are fortunate to sing with other groups, they are ministered to by those groups, giving them spiritual strength to carry on. I find two interesting things about that. First, they are not afraid to give themselves fully to ministering to other people, and secondly, there is more than entertainment going on at SG concerts, there is ministering going on there too. Needless to say, I'm quite sure that it would be difficult for other groups to not be ministered to as the Hoskins Family sings in those concerts as well.
The Hoskins Family has received several SGMA Award nominations, 4 Diamond Award nominations, a Singing News Fan Award nomination, 4 Dove Award Nominations, 5 SouthernGospelNews.com Music Award nominations, and their music is played in The Hall Of Fame in Dollywood. "What a Joyful Morning" was the #11 song for 2001 and “I Wouldn't Trade One Minute Of It” was #30. "When The Savior Wipes The Tears From Our Eyes" was nominated for a Dove Award for Southern Gospel Song Of The Year for 2004. Their current radio release is number 2 on the Singing News monthly chart and number 5 on our SouthernGospelNews.com weekly chart. Then again, running high in the charts is nothing new for the Hoskins Family.
It is clear that this is a very humble family, that feels very blessed by God to be where they are today, and they give all the glory to God for getting them there.
Don't miss seeing the Hoskins Family on Thursday night July 29th at the SouthernGospelNews.Com Convention starting at 7PM at the River of Life Church, Sam Ridley Parkway, Smyrna, TN.

Does anyone know if Jim Mahalick of the Hoskins Family is single and how old he his? Please let me know where I can read more about him.
I first met THF about 3 years ago. Since then they have become one of my favorite groups. Their sincerity and love for the Lord is so obvious when you meet them. Jim, Angie, Reva, Rick....you guys are awesome!! Keep lifting HIM up!
The Hoskins Family are the REAL DEAL!!! We LOVE the them all, yes even you Angie.
The Hoskins Family is great
THE HOSKINS FAMILY... WOW! These folks are fantastic! Angie and Jim are two of the best voices in SG music today!
Ya'll are so awesome! I'm looking for the lyrics to "What about his grace!" That song touches my heart in a special way! Thank you so much for letting God use you all.. you all are so blessed!
The Hoskins Family are no doubt THE BEST there is!! I first heard them a couple years back and remember really falling in love with their music. Today they are the most incredible group on the road. Angie's vocal ability has grown so much over the years and I personally think that there isnt a word in the dictionary to describe how awesome she is. Jim is one of the best male vocalists on the road today, its great to see a young guy serving God. Rick and Reva add that family touch to the ministry, and they would not be there hoskins family without Reva! U go girl... hehe I love ya'll
Hey, Can someone PLEASE send me the lyrics to "Hope". I love that song and really want the lyrics. So PLEASE can someone send me the lyrics.
Hello, I noticed that all your comments are very
first of all some the information in this article is wrong. i know its kinda late...(about 7 years but whatever) but i dont really want to get in to correcting all of it. Their first album that i know of, Mission of love" was recorded in 1991. they did not go in the road full time until many years later and Jim was not originally part of the group. he was added in early 2001 i believe, replacing Randy Reed, who i personally believe is one of the best male vocalist i have heard in in a long time, nothing against Jim. i am a little partial because Randy is my good friend. but anyway...
