Gordon Mote - Jesus Loves Me

Producer:  Gordon Mote/Ben Fowler
Label:  RSI Music Group
Website:  www.gordonmote.com

Gordon Mote is one of the most sought after studio musicians on the Nashville scene today.  Recently, he has come out as a performer as well…both musically and vocally.  His previous release, "There’s No Place That Love Can’t Reach" introduced many of us to his excellent vocal abilities.  And now that he has our attention, he has released this new non-vocal recording titled, "Jesus Loves Me" filled with many hymns and favorites from days gone by.  In total contrast to his previous non-vocal recording, "If You Could Hear What I See", Gordon showcases a more upbeat feel to his music, loaded with an enjoyable country style that would have made Floyd Cramer smile.

The quartet classic, "GIVE THE WORLD A SMILE" gets things underway before moving to the first of three nostalgic musical medleys included on this recording, "TURN YOUR RADIO ON MEDLEY"  ("Turn Your Radio On", "What a Lovely Name", "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" & "Mansion Over the Hilltop").  The remaining medleys included on this recording are "CHURCH IN THE WILDWOOD MEDLEY" ("Church in the Wildwood" & "Just Over in the Gloryland") and the intriguing "DUELING PIANOS MEDLEY" ("I’ve Got that Old Time Religion in my Heart" & "Goodbye World, Goodbye").

The classic, "JESUS LOVES ME" has a light and airy feel to it, while "BLESSED ASSURANCE," offers a slight taste of gospel blues and "NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD" has an Appalachian flare to it.  Another classic, "I’M WINGING MY WAY BACK HOME" still has that male quartet feel to it, while the old hymn "THE OLD RUGGED CROSS" has a definitive country feel to it.  The recording ends on a rollicking note with a spirited rendition of the classic, "MEETING IN THE AIR".

Mote is joined by many of the best studio musicians Nashville has to offer including Steve Brewster, Bobby All, Kelly Back, Scotty Sanders, Bruce Watkins, Aubry Haney and others.  This is a very enjoyable piece of work and one you’ll find yourself listening to over and over again without becoming bored.

OK, something I can agree with both of you on -- Gordon Mote is an amazing pianist, and a really nice guy too! I'm so thrilled that he got the Gaither gig, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. This is a very impressive CD, if you appreciate clean instrumentals, it's a must have!!
