Gordon Mote – I Will Sing

Producer: Phil Johnson/Gordon Mote
Label: RSI Music Group
Website: http://www.gordonmote.com

Gordon Mote is a phenomenal talent, who is truly blessed by the Lord above. Each recording seems to show more and more of his heart, while showing more and more of His heart.

The recording starts with “I Will Do the Same”, which falls into a similar vein as “Don’t Let Me Miss the Glory” and “Adoration” from Mote’s last recording and the song suits him very well. I’d love to see this song hit radio before it’s all said and done. Another song that falls into the Praise & Worship realm is “Kiss the Rock of Ages”, which Gordon co-wrote with Chaz Bosarge.

Another style that suits Mote is the more lighthearted, fun tunes, and this recording fills that bill with “Your Love will Keep Guiding Me” and “God’s Got Somethin’ for You”. While these tunes are rather enjoyable and lighthearted, the message isn’t diminished at all.

Gordon’s basic style is definitively country, and songs like the slower country feel of “Wounded Hands” and the tender “A Son of my Own” as well as the more up-tempo tunes like “Mulberry Tree”, “Pray About Everything” (I love this one and so does my 9 year old daughter) and the rollicking Dottie Rambo classic, “When I Lift Up my Head”, showcases Gordon at his best.

One of the standouts on this recording is the powerful “The Beautiful Body of Christ”, which parallels the broken and resurrected physical body of Jesus Christ with that of the resurrected Body of Christ, the Church...“the beautiful body of Christ, rising from death into life, the glory of God most high, in fullness still resides, in the beautiful body of Christ.” Though the song can easily be overlooked by a lot of people, it’s the strongest song on the recording.

Excellent vocals by Gordon, coupled with outstanding music tracks and arrangements make this a truly exceptional piece of work. With 3 impressive vocal recordings to his credit, Gordon continues to set himself apart from every other soloist in the Southern Gospel field and has solidified himself as a true and genuine artist.
