Driven is a great young group that we haven't heard a lot about, but I'm sure that is all about to change. Jason, please introduce us to the group.
I do hope that changes, we have been very busy and we thank God for all that has taken place in our ministry. Of course, I am singing Lead and our Baritone is Chad Smith, Tenor is Scott Penuel and Will Lane, Bass.
Though you may have a short history as Driven, you do have some history. Tell us how Driven came about. How did you come up with the name Driven?
We do have some history in Southern Gospel, and I guess starting with the fact that my father has done this for close to 35 years. He began singing with my grandfather, then on to The Singing Americans, The Cathedral Quartet, and then was a founder of Perfect Heart. He is still traveling and singing today! Singing has always been in my heart but just like dad I have a love for people in general. Ministry has always been what I am about and in 2007 when I and the other guys felt as though we were not where God would have us we started Driven Ministries Inc. As I searched my heart for the real reason why it was time to step out on faith I began to think what would be the best name to describe what we wanted. I had a drive in me to do whatever it takes to reach people and so long story short I came up with "Driven". I tossed around a few other ideas but this one just stuck with me.
What sets Driven apart from any other young up and coming group today?
I really do not know what sets us apart, but I do know that from the views of others most are quick to say that they can see a difference and an annointing at our services. We strive to set ourselfs apart from the standpoint of being the best Christian we can be on and off the platform. There are alot of good groups out there, and young at that, but if one point that helps us is that we are all about the ministry. Of course the harmony and blend that God has given us certainly makes what we do fun. I believe that we truly put all that we have into everything we do.
Is there somebody that is always the last one to the bus? Just loading or even at pit stops? Explain a little.
I will get it for this question! I would have to say that it varies. There are certain times for all of us to be pushing the limit on tardiness. Most of the time we all are pretty prompt but I would have to say the reason for most tardiness is just taking time to talk to people or meeting the bus, traffic takes a toll because all the guys commute to Charlotte where I live.
Who picks out your new material? Who arranges it and other technical stuff like that? Have you ever had two singers wanting to be featured on the same song?
We all pick the material that we do. Mostly we get all our songs together, and listen through all that we can. At that time, we are all so non-self promoting that we say what songs would be good for certain people. If there is a song that speaks to one of us in a big way, they will do that one. If we do not feel the song I have always said that who we sing it to will not feel it either. As far as wanting to be featured on the same song we have never encountered that before. If there is a song that will work for two of us we just split it up and it usually works out better.
Considering how far you guys have come in the last couple of years, what are your plans for the future?
God has definitely allowed us to be apart of some exciting things in our first two years! Man it doesn't seem that long!! Our future plans would consist of the same outlook we have had but we are ready to hit new areas and platforms so that we can expand the ministry. We want exposure and recognition so that we can give God all the glory for where he has brought us. If we never chang anything we all would be just as thrilled to say that we are still touching hearts wherever God leads us.
You guys are a very young group, both as a group and individually. Who were some of your mentors as individuals?
I would say that all of our mentors do include some of the groups, and individuals from past or present. I can say that we all have a mentor in our fathers. We all are family oriented and coming from good Christian homes has had a large impact on our lives.
What can a Pastor or Promoter expect when the have Driven hit the platform or stage?
Energy, happiness, proffessionalism, and ministry. We all take our gifts seriously and we work to stay as close to acceptable as possible. We all like to become part of any service or concert, not what stands out.
What is the best way for a Pastor or Promoter to reach riven if they should want to book them?
If anyone is interested in contacting us they can find us on the web at http://www.drivenqt.com or by contacting The Dominion Agency. They can reach by phone at #704-301-6097, or by mail at P.O. Box 1356, Indian Trail NC, 28079. I am definitely interested in talking to anyone who would like to have us apart of their service or concert.

All of us in Naomi & The Segos are fans of Driven. Over the past year, Jason Funderburk has become a good friend to me personally as well. Extremely talented bunch of guys that any pastor or promoter would do well with booking these guys.
Our listeners absolutely love Driven Quartet. Their song The Rock And A Hard Place is a wonderful message. We agree with Scott they are extremely talented.
Where cam I get the single of full cd for radio use?
These guys are the real deal. What you see is what you get. They are down to Earth and have a true heart for reaching lost souls for the Lord. They are all dedicated, caring and talented men. Not to mention they will keep you laughing because they are just a joy to be around. They enjoy what they do and the audience can tell it. They are awsome!
