Family Matters

NQC has come and gone, and with it has come afresh the realization that we are so blessed. After spending four days and three nights there, I came home physically exhausted but spiritually renewed. Let me tell you about a few major highlights.

Highlight number one was the opportunity to meet some of the people with whom I work via phone and e-mail. One of those I met in person for the first time was Jamie Farmer. We were privileged to feature Jamie along with three other artists at a listening party during the convention and it was really great! He and his wife, Kathy, are precious folks and their son Jordan, who looks a lot like his dad, is a super young man! Another first-time meeting for me was the Baker-Pasma families. Eight of them came all the way from Ada, Michigan, and getting acquainted with them was a real treat. The two parental units and the four older daughters sang at our FMG/Heritage Communications Showcase on Friday and did a wonderful job.

Highlight number two was the afore-mentioned listening party. We shared the latest CDs from Jamie Farmer, Sharron Kay King, Cheri Taylor and The Glovers with fans, friends and media folks. It was a time of fun and fellowship as well as good music, and we enjoyed it all.

Our FMG/HC Showcase on Friday was the biggie of the week. What a time we had! For those of you who missed it, go ahead and mark it down for next year! We will be sure to let you know the time, date and place! This year we had music from the Blackwood Quartet, Jamie Farmer, The Barrett Family, Brittni Ward, The Glovers, Ava Kasich, The Parker Trio, Living Waters Trio, Sondra Burnett, Soul’d Out Quartet, BakerPasma Families, Hope’s Call, Ann Downing, The Morris’, Tony Gore, Freedom Voice, Paid In Full, Eddie Lee and Anointed, Debbie Robbins, Mercy’s Well, The Bunces, Cheri Taylor, Chosen Ones, The Riffle Family, Johnny Minick, Sharron Kay King, Pathfinders and The Browders. See what you missed by not being there???

Several new projects are in the works and should be out before the end of the year. The FMG debut project for Living Waters Trio will be out soon. Watch for its release and get your copy early. This young group from East Tennessee was at the Bluegrass Jamboree during NQC and did an outstanding job. Sondra Burnett’s latest is almost done and you should already know how this lady can bless you through her music. Sharron Kay King’s second CD for Butler Music Group is in the works also, and should prove to be a great follow-up to her debut for the label. Any time an unknown female soloist charts at number 50 in the Singing News, like Sharron Kay did with “My Best Friend,” you can know she has something special. In this case it’s a sweet spirit and a lot of talent!

A closing thought: We don’t have to do great and wonderful things to make a difference for Jesus. Simple things done in His name can count in big ways. “For whosoever shall give you a cup of water in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.” (Mark 9:41, KJV) Find someone today who is thirsty and give them a drink in Jesus’ name.

See you next month!
