Family Matters - May 05

Can you believe how quickly this year is going by? We are halfway through the second quarter and racing toward summer and then the National Quartet Convention! It has been an exciting year for Family Music Group/Butler Music Group and we are expecting God to do great things through our artists.
Congratulations to Christlike for sharing the Breakthrough Artist of the Year honors with Mercy's Mark. Weylin Bohannan and all the guys from Christlike wowed the audience at the SGN Music Awards with their music and ministry at 2005 SGN Music Awards in Murfreesboro , Tenn. , on April 26. The group's debut album for FMG, Journey, was nominated for Country/Bluegrass Album of the Year.

Christlike's current single, “Here I Am Again,” is scoring big with radio. The song, from the CD, Journey , was written by Weylin and fellow group-member Daniel Anderson. It is currently number 35 on the Singing News Chart – Christlike's first Top 40. The single is also charting on the SouthernGospelNews.com Top 40 Weekly Chart and on the American Christian Music Journal's Top 50 Southern Gospel Chart.

Another honor for the group will be their appearance at SoGospelNews.com's 6th Annual Gospel Music Fan Festival. Christlike will be on the evening program Friday, July 30 and will appear on the FMG/BMG daytime showcase on Saturday, July 31.

BMG's newest artist, Jamie Farmer, is receiving great reviews for his current single, “Livin' for the Lord.” Lee Black and David Hanvelt co-wrote this title song from Jamie's debut BMG CD.

BMG artist Sharron Kay King is currently seeing her first ever Top 80 song. “My Best Friend,” Sharron Kay's current single from her CD One Step At A Time , came in at number 78 on the Singing News Chart for June. This song is from Sharron Kay's own pen – and her heart.

In the studio…

Work in the studio has been ongoing with several sessions complete and some just on the horizon.

The Glovers will soon be recording the vocal tracks for their latest CD. Look for some great Country Gospel sounds on this one from both Adam and Kathy Glover as they feature songs from the pens of Eric Horner, Del Way , David Patillo and several other well-known writers.

FMG's newest artist, The Living Waters Trio, will be laying tracks soon for their debut CD on the label. Tabitha Dockery, Kelly Jennings and Tommy Smith make up the vocal talent of the trio and Mike Dockery adds rhythm guitar. The group is from the tri-cities area of East Tennessee .

An excellent regional group from Ada, Mich, will be completing work on their new CD soon. The group is comprised of two families and known as the Baker/Pasma Families. Members of the group range from children to adults and will impress you with their range of talent and musical excellence. Look for this CD to make fans and friends quickly!

As we race through the remainder of this year, remember the words of the prophet Jeremiah: “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.” (Jer. 8:20 KJV) Let's get busy about our Father's business and do all we can to bring in the harvest.

See you next month!
