Dave Williford - A King’s Ransom

Producer: Dave Williford
Label: Independent
Website: http://www.willifordmusic.com

Dave Williford is a great musician, singer and composer from the Heartland of America, Jefferson City, MO. This is his first solo recording, featuring twelve wonderful new songs from his pen. Dave also produced and played all of the music tracks on this project, making it even more special.

“Forgiven" kicks the project off and is a good up tempo cut. "Over and Over" is a more progressive Southern Gospel song and is one of my favorites on the album.

"Cowboy Heaven", co-written with Jerry Wagner is a moving story song about a young Christian cowboy who was tragically killed. This song was inspired by a true story. The song is written in the same vain as "Wish You Were Here" as it tells the story from the subject’s perspective of Heaven. This song will move you and is worth the price of the CD.

"Born to Sing" features some nice picking and keeps the tempo up. "He Did" is a more traditional country ballad with some nice harmonies. The title song of the album follows. "A King's Ransom" is a powerful ballad with some beautiful chord progressions and has a great message. This is another highlight of the project.

"What I Believe" is an upbeat, progressive country song and is followed by a very nice Praise and Worship song, "When I See Your Face". This is a good change of pace for the album.

"American Christian" is a very commercial song. This would make a good choice for radio and has cross over potential. "I'll Pray" is a more contemporary song and is reminiscent of the style of Philips, Craig and Dean.

"I Don't Have a Prayer" is a good country hand clapper and it features some hot piano picking from Dave. The album ends with a pretty ballad that sums up the project well, "Do You Know Jesus".

When you blend 12 top notch, original songs with a talented singer and some good hot tracks, you get a great first project from Dave Williford. Check it out for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

This whole project is a winner! I have had the project for about a week at the station and in the line up for play, and have rec. nine request for different selections on the project. "American Christian" and "Cowboy Heaven" have the most request so far.
I and my listeners enjoy the project "A King's Ransom" and look forward to more projects with the same clean sound.

I received a copy of Dave's new CD and was VERY impressed. I am in the middle of an extended tour and have almost worn the CD out listening to it as I drive. "Born to Sing", "Do You Know Jesus", and "He Did" are my favorites. Dave is a great songwriter and I am looking forward to more from him.

Dave has been a teriffic songwriter for many years, and it's good to see him recording his own stuff. This is an awesome CD, and my listeners have been enjoying several tracks since its release. My 6 yr old loves singing along with it, especially "Forgiven." There is not a bad song on here. My favorites are, "Forgiven", "A King's Ransom", "When I See Your Face", "I Believe", and "Do You Know Jesus."

I highly recommend this for anyone.
