Chris Kibbe - “He’s Living Today”

I had never heard of Chris Kibbe until I obtained this CD and I was pretty impressed with this guy.  Hailing from Connecticut, all the songs are performed with pre-recorded soundtracks, from what I can tell, with the exception of the last song.  But the neat thing is that Chris did all the vocals himself, including all background vocals, and he did them well.  Though it’s hard for one to get a lot of vocal variety when one person is doing all the vocals, with that aside, he really does very well singing all the parts.

Featuring several songs recorded by Greater Vision and the Whisnants, songs include, “PRECIOUS LAMB OF CALVARY”, “FOLLOW ME”, “MY NAME IS LAZARUS” (very impressive!), “HE STILL LOOKS OVER ME”, “HE’S LIVING TODAY”, “FRESH GLIMPSE OF CALVARY”, “SOMEDAY I KNOW”, “THIS SIDE OF GRACE” and “JUST STAND”.

The last song, “(AFTER LIFE) WE’LL MEET AGAIN”, was written by Chris’ father, George L. Kibbe and is dedicated to the memory of his father and brother, Mark E. Kibbe.  The song is performed by Chris and brother, Kevin, and is a touching highlight of the recording.

I think it would be neat to hear Chris singing in a group.  He has a good voice and definitely is very flexible.  Chris has what I call a “Head Cold” quality about his voice.  (ie-Ben Speer, Johnny Minick, etc.)  The quality of the recording is decent and the song selection is good too.  I doubt this recording will push Chris into the limelight, but I don’t doubt the excellent potential found here.  The fact that he can sing any part makes him a prime target for groups looking for versatile singers.  I suspect we’ll be seeing more of Chris in the future.

WOW! I really love this project. But it needs more reverb, Chuck!
Have a wonderful day and looking forward to your next project.
