Carolina Royalty– 15th Anniversary-Trusting Him

If you prefer your Southern Gospel with a hint of old-fashioned style, then this North Carolina group is for you. Being one of North Carolina's most popular part time groups, one listen to this recording will explain why. They are down-home folks, with a down home style that many people find appealing. Their sound makes me think somewhat of the Weatherfords, but maybe with just bit more kick. This recording is characteristic of many local and part time groups as it features mostly songs previously recorded by other artists such as the Kingsmen, Cathedrals, Dixie Melody Boys, Karen Peck & New River, Wilburns, Jake Hess, Booth Brothers, Signature Sound Quartet and others. For their style, they do quite well.

Such songs like “I NEVER TRUSTED YOU”, “OH COME ALONG”, “WHEN THEY RING THOSE GOLDEN BELLS” (which shows off some impressive bass singing) , “RAINBOW OF LOVE”, “FOUR DAYS LATE” and “GENTLE SHEPHERD” are the basic highlights of the recording for me.

Some of the other titles include “STILL FEELIN' FINE”, “STAND BY ME” and “DIG A LITTLE DEEPER”. The remainder of the songs, “KEEP YOUR FORK”, “ANTIOCH CHURCH CHOIR” and “OLD PEOPLE”, are novelty songs that seem to fit the group like a glove.

I have been acquainted with this group for several years, and enjoy their music very much. Group leader, Felton Yeargan has always made me think of Howard Goodman. The group is fun loving and they enjoy singing, and it shines through on this recording. The music tracks are good, the vocals are good and they pretty much stay with safe songs that they are able to tackle. The overall quality of the recording is quite good though there wasn't a lot of creativity put into the cover of the CD, and there is no picture of the group as well.

Carolina Royalty's latest effort is definetly one to add to your collection. Great vocals and a great message are found throughout the project. This group is top notch!
