Austin’s Bridge - Live At Oak Tree

Producer: Paul Corley, Tre Corley, Norman Holland, Michael Turner, Shannon Lancaster
Label: Daywind Records
Website: http://www.austinsbridge.com

The Live at OakTree series features some amazing acoustic performances from some of Southern Gospel’s finest. It allows people to see some of what actually goes on in the recording process. (Normally, we end up with a whole lot more of, “Can I do that again?” Or, “I know you can do you it better.” But I digress.) Austin’s Bridge is one of the latest features in this incredible series. The Nashville based trio is comprised of 3 former music ministers. Their desire to encourage the body of Christ and reach the lost is incredibly evident in this latest release.

It opens with a lively rendition of Dry Bones. Jesus, You Are is a ballad that features Justin Rivers’ talent in singing. It really shows their heart and had this reviewer worshipping from the opening chord. Dash Between the Dates encourages its listeners to really live lives that “count in this place.” It is Well is a nice contemporary version of the hymn that doesn’t stray so far from the original that it is unrecognizable. The album closes out with I’ll Fly Away that let’s listeners leave the project feeling happy and encouraged.

What makes the series, and this project in particular, so interesting is the fact that listeners not only get the studio experience but a live concert rolled into one. It allows artists to really show what they can do in the studio before all the editing of cut offs and the like take place. It gives you the feeling of a Gospel Music Channel’s Revealed or Front Row Live. Overall, this is a very enjoyable recording.

Song List:

Dry Bones
I See Daylight
I Am Free
Jesus, You Are
Hold On to Jesus
Dash Between the Dates
He Will Carry You
Learned How to Live
Oh How Marvelous
It Is Well
I'll Fly Away
