Last month SoGospelNews.com hosted the SGN Music Awards! We had the blessing of being nominated in many categories and the total honor of singing at the event! It was fun and refreshing! Chris and Sondra were AWESOME Co-Hosts! We laughed and laughed at the humor. We cried at the precious remembrance segment in honor of some of our friends who went on to be with the Lord in recent months. Our sweet friend, Shannan, lost her best friend and husband Warren Parker and she was there to see how many people loved him. Daniel Riley was there as we remembered his awesomely talented brother Doug. It was just so moving. The best part of the night was something I would like to talk about and hopefully convey as the MEAT of what will make us effective for Christ. It was the attitude that seemed to be wonderfully evident in all of the industry that was present!
This night was so special! I was so struck by the camaraderie that was there! When the announcements came for each of the winners the entire room was thrilled. I felt a sense of people being truly happy for each recipient. All night I never felt a moment of courtesy applause. Maybe I am dreaming, but I think it was wonderful and refreshingly REAL. When the announcement came...AND THE WINNER IS....There was no hesitation...Just incredible joy for whomever it was that received the award!
The BIG winners of the night were The Booth Brothers....AWESOME GUYS THROUGH and THROUGH! We were all so happy for them...They sat in front of us...We kept telling them to go rent a UHAUL...They were so humble every time they won. It was AWESOME! And I want everyone to know that I was with the Unthanks producing their new record the next day. The phone rang for Deon while he was getting ready to go in the BOOTH to sing and it was a BOOTH on the phone...Ronnie had called to tell Deon THANK YOU so MUCH! He also asked for the number of the mortgage sponsor as he was getting ready to purchase a home and he wanted to show his support to her as well.
Another GEM of the night were members of The Crabb Family who won lots! YIPPEE! Jason ended the night with the true synopsis of our desire as servants called to sing for JESUS. The Crabbs, along with Charlotte Ritchie, sang "I'd Rather Have Jesus." And oh how TRUE that is!
So when the announcement is presented, AND THE WINNER IS..., we can all honestly say who the winner really was on April 25th, 2006. It was the one worthy of the WIN, JESUS CHRIST! And we would all rather have HIM than any earthly treasure!
I cannot thank http://www.sogospelnews.com for allowing us to be a part of the evening and I am even more proud to be a part of this industry!
I thought I would reprint the lyrics to "I'd Rather have Jesus" so we can all reflect on them and appreciate the beauty in the message:
I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand
Refrain:
Than to be the king of a vast domain,
Or be held in sin’s dread sway;
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.
I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;
I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame;
I’d rather be true to His holy name
He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He’s sweeter than honey from out the comb;
He’s all that my hungering spirit needs;
I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead
THANK YOU to the CRABB FAMILY for re-recording such a TIMELESS and AWESOME message!
Blessings! Donna (Hope's Call)

YAAAAAYYYYYY!!!! GO BOOTH BROTHERS! I am sooo proud of them! They totally deserved every award they got and much, much, MUCH MORE! Ronnie especially deserved the Male Singer of the Year award. He's got such an awesome voice! Keep on singing, guys!
Thanks Donna, Jessica & Eddie for sharing your talents with us on our new CD last week! I think the songs Hope's Call sang turned out great! It was certainly "Worth The Wait!"
God Bless,
