Here is an excerpt from Bro. Donnie Benefield, the pastor of a church where we recently ministered:
"In a world and time when some have left the work of God and have become just performers, and though they have talent, there is no spiritual power with them because they serve self and not God, you bring your gift to be used by Him and for Him. As I watch you in your walk and see you serve, I often think of Paul when he said, “saved from sin unto good works.” I know we are not saved by works, but I believe when we are saved, we will do good works. Adam and Kathy, you and your family bring a sweet spirit that God uses and for this we give Him praise. This past Sunday you were able to see a young man saved during your service but what you don’t see are the lives you touch that I see after you are gone."
We just celebrated our 14th year of marriage. We spent the first five years lost, the next four years lost in the church game, and the past five years, shedding the darkness of our past (including abortion in both of our lives) and walking in the freedom that only Christ can give. Today, we are privileged to help those who are where we once were.
So many people carry around guilt and shame and pretend there is nothing going on. We know - we did that very same thing. During those years, we waltzed into church week after week with a smile, wearing our Sunday best, pretending we were doing “just fine.” All the while, our marriage was falling apart. We were both broken from our pasts, and had no REAL idea what it was like to walk in God’s grace and mercy.
There is so much more. Check back next month as we share more of our lives with you.
