Being in Nashville, I see a lot of us artist/creative folks floating in the same boat. We want to spend most of our waking hours using the given talents and abilities that God gave us. Yet, the business of living and economics often finds us doing something else instead, that "plan B" that pays the bills but doesn't necessarily feed the soul. Given the present economic situation, the boat is starting to become the size of a cruise ship.
For someone like me who has a calling to support musicians, it's been doubly hard. I too have been torn with choosing the default employment situation versus going for the dream of being paid to write about and promote musicians because I've got a mortgage. I also hear all of the stories and frustrations of artists with great musical gifts living in a town where paying opportunities are hard to come by. I feel tied up and helpless because I know of no quick fixes to offer and it's difficult to watch these gifted individuals not find a stage for their talents.
I'm thankful, though, that I do have a gift I can offer these folks. The gift of encouragement doesn't require a paid position or an office. As this boat we are all in gets bigger, it's more important than ever for us to cover each other in support. We need to encourage one another to press on, continue to walk forward, hold fast to our gifts and never, ever give up. When we stay encouraged, we stay ready for when these tight times shall pass and the opportunities finally open to do what it is we do. That makes it a gift with a long lasting, life changing effect.
Be an encourager...and be encouraged.

The gift of encouragement is HUGE! So many people are going through tough and discouraging times in various ways these days. We definitely need to encourage and spur one another on more and more in the Lord to keep on keeping on for His glory!
Thank you, Wendy, for reminding us of one of the free yet priceless gifts we can offer to one another, Encouragement!
Be blessed!
Amazed in His presence and humbled by His great love!

Praying for the artists I love & encouraging them are 2 things I can do without too much of a cost to me & I know it is appreciated because they tell me so.
God is good all the time & all the time God is good.
