    Crabb Family - CrabbFest 2004

Posted By: CanChik - Teresa Parker in US Gospel News

I don't know how many of you get the USGN, but Teresa Parker has an interesting column there this month on something that has been discussed here before. I'll paraphrase what she wrote, so you will all go and find the article to read for yourselves.

Posted By: mm80 - Spend More Time At Home

This is definitely way over used. Just recently someone left a group and said spending time with their family was what was most important. In about a month, they are back on the road with a fulltime group traveling.

Posted By: Keith Davis - Voices to keep an ear out for!

I've come in contact with The Jody Brown Indian Family a few times in the last couple of years. Although I am pretty much a male qt. and male trio type of guy these folks really surprised me the first time I heard them a couple of years ago. I guess because of the name "Indian Family" I was expecting something different.

Posted By: music minister - What do you consider yourself?

Recently there have been a couple of topics that I have been involved in in which I spoke out against a couple of "institutions" in SG. One was Gaither and the other was SSQ. In both discussions I was verbally flogged to think I could find something wrong with either of these ministries. I love both of these entities, but I don't bow their direction when I have my quiet time.

    Daryl Williams Trio – “Shoutin’Spell”

Not only is Daryl Williams one terrific songwriter as can be told by this song, but his group does an awesome job singing. You had better have on your dancing shoes, because this song with give you a “Shoutin’ Spell”. This cut will be great for drive time. Family Music Group – January 2004 – cut # 10

Booth Brothers – “Thank Him For The Miracles”

This medium tempo song has a flow that will capture your attention. Sit back, close your eyes, and thank Him for all the miracles that He has done in your life. Your listeners are sure to be uplifted by this song full of encouragement. Spring Hill “Smash Hits” – Volume # one – 2004 – cut # 4

Safe Harbor – “On Some Resurrection Morning”

Here is some good ole traditional, four part, quartet singing. This cut has a strong message of hope that someday soon we will leave behind all these troubles and trials here below as we meet out Savior on Resurrection day. Eddie Crook Company – Volume # 0104 – cut # 1

The Brazells – “The Blood Of An Old Rugged Cross”

Here is my “sleeper of the week”. The Brazells may not be a household name yet, but this some should bring them a good deal of attention. The track starts with some fiddles and you hear a faint country sound, but the harmonies are close and the message is strong. Treat your listeners to some new sounds with this soul stirring song. Heritage Gold – Volume # 38 – cut # 4

This fine family group is booming with potential. Consisting of two brothers, Johnny and Ronnie Brown, and Johnny’s daughter Heather, they have found some really nice family harmony. They have included a really nice song selection.

Melody Boys Quartet - A Wonderful Love
    imageProducer: Vic Clay
    Label: Independent Release
    Website: www.themelodyboysquartet.com

A group that in the last few years has really begun to make itself known is the Arkansas based, Melody Boys Quartet. Why this group has remained somewhat in obscurity is beyond me, as they have a terrific pure quartet sound. I know they have ...

Reggie and Ladye - Love Songs
imageProduced by Kevin Williams and Reggie Smith
    Recorded at Upfront Studios
    Independent Label

Here is something interesting. This is a CD of secular love songs, performed by an upstanding Christian couple. No, they are not going “secular” but this is one project that is probably way overdue. To be really honest it is really ...
